how to take meds

Posted at 4:52 PM on Jan 30, 2008 by pclifton, #4652
i am a 32 year old, and just started taking this mediation. i found it made me hurt all over, and my weight is changing, going up. I workout everyday, and still see no difference. I take this medicine with a sip of water in the morning, Do I need to take more water with it for it to work right?

They say to take it with a full glass of water so it doesn't get stuck in the throat. If it does, it will swell in there and cause choking. I would drink more water with it if I were you. Also, make sure you take it first thing in the morning, on an EMPTY stomach. To be on the safe side, I take mine at 7:30am and don't eat anything for at least 2 hours. If you take any vitamins or supplements of any sort, you need to take them about 4 hours after the synthroid, because they will interfere with absorption. Make sure you tell your doctor of any other meds you take which can also interfere with the absorption. As far as your body hurting all over, I don't know. My mom took synthroid and gained a lot of weight on it, so she had to switch to Levoxyl (generic). There is a small percent of people (like 3percent) who will gain weight on synthroid. Ask your doctor about switching brands to see if it helps. Good luck.

I forgot to add that, like you, my mom tried so hard to burn the weight off on the treadmill, and the weight just kept going up. Again, ask your dr if another brand might be better for you.
