Is this side effect or Psychiatric

My husband attempted suicide after starting this drug for Barrett's Esophagus. He has no history or depression or suicidal tendencies. He almost died and was sent to a mental facility for two days. He was released after we showed them proof that he'd recently started on this medication. At first they acted like we were making it up, but the pamphlet that comes with the prescription states that one of the side effects is "thoughts of hurting yourself"
