Is Yaz ok?

Posted at 4:44 PM on Oct 05, 2009 by maggielgarcia, #11033
I have been on Yaz for over two years now. I have heard that the gov. is going to pull yaz because of clotting in the lower legs and also brain clots. Is this true and am I at risk using this form of birth control. I have also experienced migraines since being on this pill. My OB assured me they were not related to yaz. I am now concerned that the pill is actually the source. Please educate me on Yaz and your opinion. Thank you

Maggie: It has been the experience of many women that Yasmin and Yaz (made by the same company and quite similar) have caused many, many problems. Yasmin caused many problematic side effects for me, and I know of women who experienced the same on Yaz. Although your gynecologist reassured you, please remember that doctors are not gods, and you should trust your own body. If you would like to talk to other women who have been on Yaz, I suggest visiting the "Yasmin Survivors Forum" (type it into your search engine) and read some of the posts there, or the "Aphrodite" Women's Health Forum under "Contraception". There are many women there who may be able to help you. I wish you the best of luck.
