lantus and mucsle pain

My son 34y/o stared lanus 2 weeks ago. in the past 3 day has started having severe mucsle pain. Is this related to the insulin?
I started on Lantus last year and I`ve had nothing but trouble with it.
Ì`ve experience extreme chest pain, joints are always hurting, extreme dizziness and short of breath and to top it all off I`ve gained 30 lbs.
