My wife was prescribed Levaquine in Jan 1998, within 24 hours she was violently ill, could not lift her arms, head was numb, the next day began having tremors or seizures. Could not speak well, could not get her right leg to move forward. No Dr's had even a clue back then as to the potential ADR's from this powerful drug. They just kept telling my wife she must have been abused as a child and suffered from a conversion reaction. Finally I did my own research and thought it appeared she was having dystonic episodes. I flew her from Boise Idaho to Boston to see a Dystonia expert, She felt it could be dystonia but no real way to pin that down. Well here we are 10 years later, still have the same problems when this morning she looks at the warnings on Levaquine and there it is a new warning just sent out 60 days ago, can cause Dystonia. Any person showing a bad reaction to this drug should have their stomach pumped immediately. So here you are with a Dr. prescribing meds without even bothering to keep up with the latest in research on adverse reactions. That Dr. should loose their Lic. to practice medicine. They are handing out this drug like candy, a major marketing push by the drug Co's. Go into a hospital and you will see those guys wearing Levaquine pen holders in the shirt pockets.Even more scary back in 98 the dose was 500 milograms, now I see here it's 750! A book was written about this drug, "Bitter Pills" by Stephen Fried, everyone here should read this book. We have lived with this now for 10 years, I pray your son has no other episodes.
