Lisnopril causing hair thinning and weight gain?

Posted at 2:28 PM on Jan 09, 2009 by sentine55, #8785
I am only 20 years old and have been taking 2.5 mg of lisinopril for a little over a year. In the past year or so, I've definitely noticed my hair thinning faster and my weight has increased. I didn't really have a problem with either of these before I started taking lisinopril. Could the 2.5 mg of Lisnopril that I'm currently taking be contributing to my hairloss and weight gain? Please help me if you can because I am very worried, thanks!

I just started taking lisnopril and I'm always tired. Almost feel asleep at the wheel. Is this a side effect?

That's a low dosage. But yes I had fairly significantly weight gain on this drug, and inablity to loose the weight despite diet and six days a week, hour a day exercise. I am in my early 30's never had a weight problem before. I went from 115 to 130 in three months, I'm only 5'2. I also had the hair loss. Docs don't want to admit weight gain is a side effect, but its one of the listed ones, although its rare. They blamed me for the weight gain for months, saying I was overeating, getting older, etc.
