med change

I am currently on Depakote ER for Borderline personality disorder. It definitley helps with my mood swings, but the side effects have been making me wanna switch the med. I have been experiencing hair loss, and my hair is already so super thin. Does anyone have advice on another med that I can take for my BPD, that doesnt have scary side effetcs or drowsiness as a HUGE complaint?! PLEASE someone help before I go and be put on something that is gonna be worse for me!!!
