I have taken the Depo-Provera shot because my periods were horrendouse. No more period! I can't attribute weight gain to it--reports are that 35% report weight gain but 20% weight loss. There is a new risk report of bone density problems, but no problem for me as yet. That's my pick. One shot lasts 3 months & no pill to remember.
THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT BUT NO SHOTS FOR 15 YR OLD, AND I, AS HER MOM HAVE OSTEOPENIA AND IT RUNS IN FAMILY SO WE WILL TRY TO FIGURE OUT A PILL.....PLUS WE CAN'T TAKE HER OUT OF SCHOOL EVERY 3 MOS. TO TAKE INJECTION......BUT THANKS AGAIN.
I have been on ortho and ortho lo. They both gave me the same mood swings...BAD. Ortho didnt make me break out it actually helped. The lo made me break out. They both made me gain wight approx. 5 lbs. I just don't like them. Have you looked into yaz? that one is supposed to help with mood but it was the WORST for my mood...go figure. No weight gain though, and no headcahes like both ortho's. what else would you like to know?
Hi, 30 year old here who took Ortho Tri-Cyclen as a teen. I didn't have the weight gain, and it did seem to help with other issues I had. I've been on the Nuvaring now, twice, and I loved it...lost 37 pounds the first time, and 18 so far this second time around. However, the discharge is so bad this go 'round, I'm looking at returning to the Ortho. I can't say I know much about the "lo," but Ortho seemed to help me a lot when I was younger. I think every person's body will react its own way. That being said, I wish you the best of luck finding what you need.
