New Taking Lantus
My doc still doesn't have my dose correct yet. I like it better than the NPH he had me on. Does anyone take a dose higher than 45 units or take Lantus twice a day and also do you take other diabetes meds along with it? I take metformin twice a day & Avandia once a day & 25 units of regular insulin before meals. Seems a bit much to me!
I started on lantus in June 2006 and took 60 units a dat (pm). I would cover my meals with humolg and that`s all I took. Unfortunately, I had many side effects from this insulin like weight gain (30 lbs), severe chest pain that hospitalized me severeal times, blurred vision, short of breath and extreme dizziness. I have taken myself off this insulin and have gone back to the humulin N I was previously using and I feel great and I stopped having chest pains and the other stuff.
