Nuvaring removal

I had intercourse on Sunday and took the ring out for about 2 1/2 hours yesterday and put it back in because i was scared i wasn't going to be protected from the intercourse on Sunday. Although we used a condom. Would it be safe to take it out tonight, Tuesday, and would i be protected for the next week or not?
