Omeprazole & Ectopic Heartbeats

My doctor has prescribed 20mg Omeprazole. She thinks it may help with the palpitations/ectopic heartbeats I have been experiencing every day for 3 weeks. Although I feel the palpitations throughout the day, they are more frequent after meals and my doctor thinks they may be due to stomach acid. I don't get heartburn or feel any acid reflux. After reading some of the messages on this site about the side effects, I am wondering if it is a good idea to start taking this medication. Any advice please?
