I recently went to the emergency room, due to the fact that I believe I have a pinched nerve or something. Anyway, I was in so much pain, I could sit still, or stand still. The doctor gave me vicodin, which worked great, but then she told me to take this prednisone. I don't know what it is, and I don't want to take them. But, I started this morning, and I feel really bad. Cold sweat, diarrhea, stomach hurts really bad. Should I just stop taking them? Or keep going? She wants me to keep taking them for the next 5 days, slowly depleting my dose. If anyone can help, I would appreciate.
Prednisone is not too bad in small short doses (based on my experience), but it's not good long term. I have been on it almost 3 months and have experienced every side effect there is I think. It's hard getting of it once you are on, but I do know that it also can help with certain things. I have neuroptahy, which is nerve pain and it has helped with that. However, it's connected to my immune disorder so the doctors are treating the illness, not the symptoms. Unless you absolutely need this drug, I would think twice. If there is an alternative, take it! But if you are on pred already, do not stop abruptly. Good luck
