How does Prednisone affect the Pancreas?

My doctor said that a normal pancreas will react normally once a lower dose of prednisone is given. Prednisone will however increase the sugar level in your blood if it is taken at high doses.

Thanks for the response. My question is in regard to the excessive dosage of oral Prednisone given my father. (1000 mg daily for 7 days). Pancreatitis is listed on death certificate.
