Provera - for 3 months?

I am trying to get pregnent and after trying for 6 months and overbleeding of 1.5 months, I consulted Doc. Doc tested , said that there is extra layer added up as I might not be ovulating and advised me on Provera for 3 months. This is my first month on medication. I am bit tensed up as to why 3 months period and if I would be successful after 3 months. I am bit desperate these days. Any suggestions to know if my medicine is working properly to reduce that extra layer? Any symptoms that I can see to realize that I am on rigjht track? Thank you
