Severe hand pain

I am 83 yrs old with high blood pressure . Soon after being put on Diovan my hands began to hurt and then my fingers began to cramp and fold in like a claw.
I have been off Diovan for 2 weeks+.
The other hand was not as bad, but then it started to close up. The pain in the joints is unbelievable.
Has anyone had this?
How long does it take to get the drug out of your system.
