Should I worry about my break through bleeding.

The last week of December to the first two weeks in January I was off the pill because we did not have the money. We did use other birth control, and for the first 7 days when I got back on. My question is, I have had break through bleeding for almost a week, my periods are any where from 3 to 5 days long. Is this normal doing bleeding this long? Sometimes it looks like it is going to stop and it picks back up. Any advice is good advice.
