Side effects

I am taking toprol along with Lipitor for high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I am losing my hair, and have a skin rash that comes and goes for the last year. My doctor took me off Lipitor but I am still having the same problems. Could this be from the Toprol? Help please.

Yes ! toprol has that known side effect of Hair loss and thinning hair.. it can grow back when your off toprol (after 6months or so) toprol also has meny side effects. Iv been on this drug for about 4 years now . I wouldnt rate it high , as it isnt the best beta blocker out there. it also cause's waight gain (rapid) in some cases. and bloating belly and gas build up. there are a few shampoo's that help thicken the hair (that are natural) but most cases, its best to wean off the toprol with doctors help. and find another beta blocker, without the hairloss or thinning side effect ! good luck

Thank you so much for your reply. I've lost 11 lbs since I came off this med w/o even trying. I have high hopes that my hair will come back w/o the use of drugs to make it grow. My swelling is all but gone. I can now wear my shoes again. I remain sensitive to salts, therefore I watch my sodium intake and take 12.5 mg of Hztz. Since my BP is boderline around 143/95. I am going to try regular exercise to bring it down. My diet is very healthy. Lots of fiber and natural colors. I work in medicine. Medications can affect people differently. This certainly is NOT the drug for me. I have high hopes to restore as much as I can naturally. If I have to be on another beta blocker, it certainly will NOT be Toprol. Thanks again for your reply. :)
