My 12 year old son has been taking Singulair for about 3 years and recently developed a bladder problem. His symptoms are very much like a urinary track infection. We had him tested twice for UTI and thats not the problem. I was told these symptoms are a possible side effect of Singulair. Has anyone else heard this?
Yes, other parents have reported urinary problems with Singulair. Frequent urination, bed wetting, and daytime wetting accidents have been reported on this site and to advocates at www.parentsforsafety.org. Parents have also reported that these problems resolved when Singulair was stopped.
If you review the side effects on Singulair's label, available at www.dailymed.nlm.nih.gov, you will see that "Pyuria" was documented in the clinical trials, Pyuria means pus in the urine.
FYI: Singulair has been clinically proven inferior in effectiveness to inhaled corticosteroids for asthma, and intranasal corticosteroids for allergic rhinitis. For more info, visit www.parentsforsafety.org.
Good luck with your son.
I have been taking singulair for a couple years. I also take advair and combivent.
I really didn't understand why I had to take singulair also.
Anyway, I have a bladder control problem at night when I'm sleeping. I also take singulair at night.
It's a terrible inconvenience. I'm going to stop it tonite and see what happens this week.
