is SMZ/TMP DS the same as Bactrim? is SMZ/TMP DS for MRSA treatment?

SMZ/TMP DS is the generic only for Bactrim DS...not regular Bactrim. (DS is Double Strength). MRSA is definitely hard to treat. The mainstay of treatment for MRSA is vancomycin, gentamycin, rifampin. SMZ/TMP is an "alternative" drug that can be used, but is certainly not the best nor the first choice.
