spotting caused by vagifem?

I started taking vagifem (first daily for two weeks, then 2X week) about 2 months ago. Around the 4th week, I had what seemed like a period (but I hadn't had one in 6 months, so.....) then the bleeding stopped, then started again, and has continued, though light, along with some weird dull abdominal aches, for the past 10 days. I stopped taking vagifem, thinking it wasn't worth the side effects, and the bleeding actually got a little worse. It's still lighter than a regular period, but ongoing, and bright red like fresh blood. Does anyone know if stopping it suddenly as I did could be part of the problem? If anyone else has experienced something like this, has the bleeding stopped?
