Are there any indications that Levaquin could cause the stiff-person syndrome. I was treated with Levaquin in 2007 for a serious lung problem. Then again in 2008 for a stomach related bacteria where I had a sever reaction to the Levaquin, IE burning at the IV site, profuse sweating, elevated temp, and increased stiffness of my hands. The IV was stopped and other treatments were applied, but the end result is I am very stiff in most of my joints, including my torso, knees, hands, elbows, and shoulders. It often feels as though I do not have the ability to balance well. Hand swelling in the morning is usually worse, and much more painful. I was treated later in 2007 and most of 2008 for RA, but none of the meds tried seemed to have any affect on the stiffness or pain. The RA tests were not indicating RA, but the doctor was not concerned with that fact.
My hope is taht there may be a treatment for this SPS that will provide some relief of the stiffness and pain.
