Strange side effect

I am a 55year old female recently hospitalized with kidney stones. Last time I experienced stones was 6 years ago. The urologist put me on Flomax and from what I read it helps to relax the urethra for easily passing stones. That part of passing stones is no problem. The REAL pain is when it leaves the kidney. So does it do anything for the ureters? Also when I started on this I lived with a noxious smell that I attributed to the med. It has lessened but it is really disgusting.
