valium

currently on effexor ER. having bad side effects, i.e. increased nervousness, anxiety, panic attacks, shortness of breath incresased blood pressure, irritability. also taking atenolol for hypertension and irregullar heartbeat. what drug other than effexor can i take that will not produce theses awful side effects. have triled paxil, celexa and lexapro none of which got me "unstuck". should i ask my dr for valium or ativan?
