vicodin and pregnancy

I am asking advice as a concerned friend. My sisters' best friend is pregnant (8 months) and is a recovering drug user. She was prescribed vicodin by her doctor for pain. The doctor knows her history. Safe? Smart? I have not researched it enough yet to know. If anyone can help me on this one I would appreciate it! thanks
