Is ibuprofin OK to take while on warfarin?
No. Ibuprofen is in the class of medications called NSAIDs. They are structurally similar and have the same effects as aspirin. They have blood-thinning effects on their own, so when coupled with the coumadin, you could become over-anticoagulated. Unless you have been prescribed an NSAID by your doctor (who is aware you are on Coumadin) or are taking an aspirin a day under MD supervision, it's best to avoid all NSAIDs.
Best to use Tylenol for mild pain.
