I took paxil when I was 25 for 6-7 months for some mild depression. When I felt better I just quit no problem at all. Now at 52 I was on it for about 4 months and couldn't deal with the E.D., constipation, weight gain(20 lbs in 2 months)
and flat line personality.
I went from 20 mg to 10 mg over a month and then stop cold. Its been more than a month now and the E.D. is gone, lost 10 lbs,no longer constipated but now I get easily annoyed/angry,my head is almost always spinning,I have headaches on both sides of my head just above my ears that Excedrin won't touch. I am /was having dreams/nightmares that seemed so real. They have since subsided. I ache all over & feel like Im coming down with the flu but it never comes.. I am really exhausted at the end of the day whether I physically work hard or not. My balance is questionable enough that I won't ride my bike. For fleeting moments I feel right again then.... wwoosh!.
My doc says go back on it and ease off it over a longer time. HUH??
How long can I expect to go thru this before I'm normal again?
Im starting to wonder if there may be something else wrong with me and this is not Paxil withdrawal side effects.
I think you,re smarter than your doc! Rule #1, when neurological symptoms present themselves, check the nervous system,BRAIN first. and it wouldn,t hurt to check some labs because of feeling flu-ish,headaches,vertigo. Make sure doc writes symptoms on script or insurance co. won,t pay for tests!! The docs know better, but forget,so we must remind them or get stuck with a bill!
Good luck
