Will the side effects ever go away??

My elderly mom was recently treated with levaquin for a UTI. We first thought she may be having a TIA because almost immediately after starting her IV she would laugh, then cry, could not remember her own name and didn't seem to be able to process information. She has gotten better but she still has "episodes" where she feels disoriented and cannot remember simple words. These last for only 10 - 15 minutes but she just stopped the medication yesterday. She also seems to have more body pain which angers me because she already had arthritis. Has anyone fully recovered from such symptoms??
