Has anyone out there gained weight while using Yaz? I am about to start taking it in 2 weeks. I used to take Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and gained a few pounds with it. I haven't taken any form of the pill in about 7 years. I now have my tubes tied and my doctor gave Yaz to help with PMDD. Thanks for any info!
Everyone is different - and takes BCP for different reasons - I started YAZ for heavy bleeding, PMDD mostly. I'm 48, have been on it for about 7 weeks. My sister had had a good experience so far on it so I thought I would try it. My experience has not been a good one. Until I began reading the message boaords about the others who have had bad side effects with this med I would have not thought to associate my bloating, weightgain, muscle soreness, headaches and lack of energy to this pill. some don't have them - like my sister. Shes been on it for about 4-5 months. I feel worse than I do when I get my period. I look 4 months pregnant - put on 10 lbs and feel depressed more than not. I stopped this pill yesterday and hope that it doesn't take long to get out of my system - I will cotinue to excercise and eat better, take a b12 and good multi and hope that I can feel myself again - between trying lexapro for 8 weeks and now this I have put on 15-20 lbs - its been a long winter. I walk 2 miles 3-4x a week, do some weight training inbetween, have always had more energy - I have been sleeping, and feeling like a slug -
My advise to anyone is to pay attention to your body - it will tell you if you are taking the right thing - read and educate yourself.....good luck!
I was given Yaz for PMDD also. I've got tendencies towards depression & anxiety, lowered sex drive, moodiness, weight gain, etc. Honestly, I really liked Yax. I took it for a year and it really did help with everything that the advertisements said it would.
The only reason that I need to try something different is to suppress my periods for treatment of uterine fibroids.
Everyone is different and the only posts that you will normally see here are women with side effects, questions and issues. You won't hear a thing from someone who was happy with their treatment. Give it a try and see what happens!
I'm actually on this site looking for info on the NuvaRing....I wish I could just keep my Yaz! Best of luck to you!!
Yaz should only be taken for PMDD if you are also looking for a birth control. it has some serious side effects like dangerously increasing your blook potassium level that is only worth the risk if you need an OC to prevent pregnancy. There are many other safer and better tested medications that work extremely well for PMDD. Just curious, if your gyn the one who diagnosed you with PMDD?
