For the person that said i should get it out.... Sure why not lets see my fience is bi-polar, adhd, and gets kidney stones contantly lost his job over it. So theres no income coming in at this household. Lets also not forget i get pregnant incredibly easily(my son was concieved while on bc and using a condom) and while on bc i also feel like id rather beat ppl over the head then hear what they have to say and with three children their bdays being 4/9/07, 1/9/09, and 11/8/09 that isnt an option. i havent been pregnant since my last child and thats wonderful for me. I have hypothyroidism which they say can make you infertile(deff not my case) which has also caused my last two children to be born 4 weeks premature my second child didnt have complications but my third spent two weeks in childrens hospital from being born with a collapsed lung.... and also when they say it doesnt enter your blood stream the mean directly enter it, it takes time for it to even take effect. but unless you all just have really bad doctors or something my ob even worned me that the worse side effect would be death, but under my situation this was my best option. plus i dont like having to take pain killers everyday, levothyroxin, blood pressure meds, and also try to remember a little pill. ive had migraines since i was 16 and the blood pressure med is to prevent them, had a hypothyroid since i was 16. But if anyone has a suggestion other than mirena id gladly listen. And getting my tubes tied was not an option im only 22!!!!

I've been taking Trileptal and Buproprion for bipolar disorder for about 7 years; after a month my doses went to Buproprion HCL 200 mg. SR two times a day and Trileptal 300 mg. morning, lunch and two at night. I only take one at night or I'm zonked and groggy the next day. It works great for my bipolar for the most part, but after about 3 years on it I had an episode where I got double vision and felt like I LOOKED like I was drunk; I didn't feel drunk, but one side of my face and one eye felt so weird! When I cover one I my vision looks normal but I still feel very odd. This only occurred occasionally but as time goes by it's getting worse and worse. Lately I've noticed an intention tremor in both hands and having to "reach" for the right word. I also have trouble typing and will make a mistake over and over before I can get my fingers to correct it. I'd hate to stop my meds; I really love them.

Hello again ladies :-)

OK-I posted yesterday and forgot to mention that although I took the Nuvaring out last Thursday. (Feb.4/10 and also the last day of my period) and it was only in for 3 days - Yesterday morning, I started my period AGAIN. Not spotting, this is a full blown period. Cramps, bloating & all. I am so upset that I ever used this damn thing. I only used it for a month and those 3 days... In such a short time it's nearly ruined me.

I still have the rash too :-(

Anyone out there having double vision or intention tremors, like reaching for something and your hand shaking even if you clench your fist? I also have trouble typing and will type a word incorrectly over and over again, not because I don't know how to spell it I just can't get the right letter to come out of my fingers. I take Trileptal as a mood stabilizer, and have been taking these meds for 7 years and have been so happy with the results, and I'm wondering if now I'm going to have to change because of these side effects. Kind of scary.

By the way,, it took me a month or six weeks for my meds to feel comfortable in my body. It took awhile to get the doses right and for my brain to register what I was taking, but it probably saved my marriage and my life. It's so much better than the Lithium and Zoloft I took years ago which made me a totaly zombie.

Just went to ER yesterday with most of these symptoms. Of course they found nothing after a chest x-ray,cat scan, blood work, urinalysis, Now I know. Should have done this search yesterday. Has anyone had numbness? I have not had feeling in 2 of my fingers for days, and some numbness in jaw. That was the symptom that made me go to the ER, thought maybe I was having a stroke. I was recently (3 weeks ago) increased up to 200mg 1@day. Didnt seem to have side effects before, but probably hadnt noticed. Was probably chalking them up to other things. Menopause, recently quit smoking (7 weeks). I think I am gonna wean myself off of these dang things if I can. I also take 75mg of effexor, and 150mg of zoloft both 1@day. Like someone else said just let me be normal for one day, without meds. This is such a high price to have to pay, for just surviving.

I've only read one page of these posts and I am scared and don't know what to do. I am on day 6 of a 10 day regimen of 500 mg Levaquin for a kidney infection. After the 4th dose, my ankles started hurting all night and the next morning, was better after taking 3 Aleve. After the 5th dose, some mild joint pain in wrists, elbows, and still my ankles. No insomnia, swelling, dizziness or anything else.I can stand this, but afraid it's going to get worse or not go away. When my Dr. prescribed Levaquiin, I had never heard of it before (the doctor said it was the "granddaddy of antibiotics, strong stuff". Came home and read the side effects insert, wasn't too concerned, because it said the tendon damage was in people over 60 (I am 56, female, 125 lbs, fairly healthy, except for hypertension). I have had some arthritic hip pain in the past and have been taking glucosamine, crondoitin, and hyaluronic acid regularly for the past 7 or 8 years (maybe that's why my pain is mild?)

Just an update from my post below (February 9th, 2010 at 5:38am)....After I took out the Mirena, I felt such a sense of relief. I was a little worried that I'd hurt myself taking it out but since my doctor had done an ultrasound I figured I'd be ok & that it wasn't embedded. Anyway, for the first time in a long time, I slept like a baby last night, about 7 hours total! And I didn't have any nightmares like before. I also feel like a new woman this morning.....already feeling like I'm getting back to my old self. I did wake up with a migraine around 7:30 but my migraine meds knocked it out pretty quickly (Max-Alt....a wonderful medicine for migraines, by the way). I also didn't wake up starving like I had been doing. I'm spotting a little since taking it out, but I'm quite used to that from the last 40 days. I expect I'll start a period within the next few days but I don't care. I'm just so happy to have that thing out of my body! Thank you to all the people on here who are sharing your experiences. It made me feel so much better to have the truth about Mirena & to know that I wasn't losing my mind. It certainly helped me to make the decsion to take it out. I wouldn't suggest that everyone just go pulling their's out though, just in case your's could be embedded, as that could possibly be dangerous. I'll keep you posted w/how I do now that it's out. I'm wondering if anyone knows if there is an agency (FDA or CDC maybe?) we can report all of our side effects to so that the manufacturer can maybe put the truth in their literature. Any thoughts?

I've had my mirena in for two years not and have not had a period at all. But all the side effects are still there. I feel as if I am soo BLOATED and can't release. I also have gained 70lbs in the last year and a half. I went from a size 7 to a size 15. I am going to have the mirena removed to get back to a healthy size. Oh yea the doctor told me that I would only gain 5lbs from the mirena.. I was lied too. Don't let it be you.

I had the Mirena inserted a week ago, since then I have had pain and cramps like never before and I have been bleeding heavily as well. I don't believe that this should be normal, although my gyne keeps telling me to give it time, I am seriously considering taking it out. Getting married in march, don't want to sit with this nonsense!

Hello, I just had my Mirena taken out. I had it in for only 7 months, it was the worst 7 months of my life, i kept getting ovarian cyst after cysts.. My uterus kept contracting which was causing extreme amounts of pain to the point where i was on pain killers almost every night.
I developed Breastmilk, which surprised me because my daughter is 2 and i don't breast feed.
I had trouble during intercourse, my moods were erractic, one moment i was happy then i was in a bad mood or crying for no reason.
I didn't get my periods, but i still got period pain every month.
My body even starting acting l like i was pregnant, i was bloated all the time, i had cravings and would have morning sickness.
I wouldn't recommend any one getting one, doctors say that it is the best thing to have, but they do not tell you what could happen to your body.
I would suggest if you wanted to take it out, take it out, it is not worth you being in pain and unhappy, because it will be worse on you and your family in the long run. There is always other options out there to use for contraception. In the end it is your decision, not the doctors

I had my Mirena IUD inserted Dec 31, 2009. It has been 40 days now. 40 days of hell & bleeding or spotting every day. I have endometriosis, infertility, PMDD & extremely painful periods so I was hoping that this IUD would help with all of that (except the fertility, of course). I've been trying to figure out why I was so tired all the time & just didn't "feel right". Everyone keeps asking me what's wrong & all I can say is that I just don't feel right. The day after I had it inserted, I had the worst pain I've ever had in my life but I didn't want to go to the doctor. So at my follow up appointment, my doctor did an ultrasound to make sure it was not embedded in my uterus. It looked fine. I've gained weight so I went to a diet doctor & got phentermine. Even with the phentermine, my appetite is CRAZY & I seem to always be hungry. I've been on phentermine before & it worked. I lost 20 lbs. Last night, I started having a pain in the back of my right leg, right behind my knee. I knew I couldn't have injured it because I was sitting ALL day working on my tax returns. I got worried about a possible blood clot. I've also had a hard time sleeping. I'm exhausted, but can't sleep. So, after 40 days of bleeding or spotting & depression & weight gain & pain and more migraines than usual, I finally decided to google Mirena side effects & I came upon this page. All of these posts on this site have just validated my concerns that it has to be because of the Mirena. So....I just went to the bathroom and pulled it out myself. It was completely painless. I knew it would take a while to get an appointment with my gynocologist & he may try to talk me into keeping it and I definitely don't want that. I have fine hair & it's not exactly thick, so when I saw the part about hair loss, that was enough to convince me. The thing is, I researched it before I agreed to it & never found all of this terrible stuff. I don't think the literature they gave me had any of this in it! I'll check that again tomorrow. I suppose we'll see what tomorrow brings. Hopefully within a few days I will be back to normal. I don't even care about the heavy bleeding and PMDD anymore.....I just want to be back to my old self.

52 yr old healthy active female - Oct. I went to dr for sinus infection. He suggested allergies as cause for sinus problems and said a allergy shot would help. I asked side effects - he said none.
A few days later the heaadaches started, fatigue, also hot flashes so bad I could not sleep. I also have a sore or tightning in my throat. After a month I went to the dr and he said it was menopalse and started me on estrogen. This did help some. I did notice when working out my laft arm was not as strong and ached alot.
About a week ago I my arm was tender more than usual and I found the indention. After a few days I remembered the "allergy shot".
FInally I started searching online and found more information.
Today I went to the dr. I asked the nurse what the injection was that I recieved in Oct. - yes kenalog. The dr came in I told him my symptons and that I thought it was due to the Kenalog - he said he had never heard if that happening. Basically I was wrong.
I mentioned the internet - you can''t bbelieve everything on the internet. I really don't think he believed me. but he did offer me something for my headaches with a seditive so I can sleep? Later he offered to send me to a dermtotolgist.
I delined the seditive and decided to try getting advise for this posting. Also will go to FDA and report the adverse effects.
Can anyone let me know what to expect now - shsould I go to dertomolgist?

i just had my primary dr. do silicone level testing in my blood work. it came out very very high in my blood. i urge everyone to get tested only because silicone takes years to get out of the body sometimes permanent. i am post mirena two weeks and i did test four days ago and it came out to be .39
(the normal amount in a person should be .05).(anything over .10 is abnormal)
so drs lied to us when they said mirena does not enter our blood stream. and that is why our symptoms take time to go away. but there not as bad as when we had the mirena in. Silicone is deadly at any level. please get tested even if you had mirena out for long time. silicone does not clear over months or years.
that right there is proof it is extremly harmful
also google side effects to silicone and they are very similar to what we had.
thank you
jessica bonner
i might as well go be a dr. since i know what to test my self for better than the silly drs. who thought we were the crazy ones!!!

I'm pretty upset right now, because I've been given Yaz by the same doctor who KNEW I am struggling with a relatively recent bipolar diagnosis (with mania that manifests in rage). After a quick search I find that many other women find Yaz to instigate rage, when I'm already struggling to control it due to the bipolar!

AARGGGH.

Why can't I find good medical care anywhere I go? *tosses Yaz in the trash* (I was only taking it to lessen my body hair, which is excessive for a woman. I sleep with girls, so preggers is no problem for me.)

I had a case of acute bronchitis and doctor prescribed Azithromycin (antibiotic) and something new, Advair. I took both medications, and, I have had several prescriptions for that antibiotics over the years, never a problem. But, on the morning of day 2, woke up, 30 minutes later and my legs and arms covered in hives. I never ever had an allergic reaction in my life, so I immediately expected it was the Advair. Went back to the doctor, who then took me off the advair. At that point, he gave me Xyzal, for 5 days, which helped subdue any more hives. After the Xyzal ended, guess what--the hives have returned, but in their former glory, but they returned nevertheless---is it possible that there is some residency period in the body for the Advair agent? I took it only for one day, but this is frightening.
