i was on Yasmin for 2 years and then switched over to the generic Ocella. while i was on yasmin i had more cramps in my legs and spider veins as well. has anyone else experienced this? please let me know. i feel as if i'm the only one!

I have been using Aviane for the past two years. I used to use Yasmin but hated it since it gave me small spider veins around my legs. I honestly like Aviane a lot more. It's cheaper, I haven't gained weight, and my periods only last for maximum of 3 days. there is a very very light flow and no cramps at all. My period used to last 5 days with a very VERY heavy flow plus I used to get cramps. the only thing that bothers me about Aviane is that i feel dryer during sex and it's harder for me to have an orgasm. i definitely noticed the decreased sexual drive and my breasts always feel tender and swollen.

I am so glad for everyone's post. I have read so many of your posts and had a lot of a ha moments. I was prescribed Avelox 400 in July 2009. After I took my last dose (10 days), I experienced severe joint pain in my knees, hips, neck, back, shoulders and elbow. Then it went to my fingers. I hurt so bad I couldn't open the door for my dog to go outside. The pain is not so bad anymore, but it is still there. When I get up from writing this I will have a hard time walking. I started loosing brushfuls of hair daily. I now have shortness of breathe. I cry at the weirdest times. I get upset, mad at the littlest things. I have a patch of skin on my back that is constantly irritated, like your shirt tag is rubbing against it but it is not near where my shirt tag is. My husband thinks I am crazy, he says there is nothing there. I started getting stabbing pains in my chest and back, for no reason at all. My mind is like Swiss cheese. I am tired a lot, I want to take several naps a day.
I took all of these things as a sign of getting older...before taking Avelox I felt and acted like a 30 something person now I feel and act like my dad and he is 75.....
I hope we all get to feeling the way we felt before Avelox!!!

UPDATE: Went to the doctor on November 9th and got the Mirena taken out. He asked why i was wanting it out and i told him all my side effects (severe hair loss, moody all the time, hot flashes, cold flashes,etc..) and he seemed like he didn't want to take it out so i just cut him off and told him to take it out. He doesn't believe my problems are from the Mirena, but i knew different. Got it out on a Monday and the very next day i felt so drained and tired , i see everyone calling it the "down" day. Well Wednesday i felt so much better and actually started bleeding that day and it only lasted heavy that day and Thursday it was light. Just two days of bleeding and nothing since. I have noticed changes i have more energy and i am not as moody as i was, It was like i felt like the devil when i had the mirena in, i was mad all the time at little things, nothing seemed to make me happy. It is so much better now, not back to my old self but so much better. My hair is still falling out but not as much as it was, much much better. I think that taking the Mirena out was the best thing i could have done for myself.

I'm 39 years old with two teenagers. I don't want any more kids and did not want the stress or worry to become pregnant again. Decided to try the Nuvaring. Been taking it for 6 months now hoping that each month would get better. What a crazy ride. I've been feeling extremely on edge with my family, disliked anyone looking at me, especially my husband. I cried, felt tender in the body and numb in the heart and mind. I've also felt tingling in my toes and my eyes have been sensitive to contacts and my ear has been stuffed up. Headaches? Never do I get headaches and had some severe ones. Last night was the final night of Nuvaring. I snapped at my husband and kids, went to bed, felt weepy, but didn't cry. I also couldn't get enough air in my lungs and my side ached. All in all the Nuvaring had me feeling Numb and crazy. I was looking into therapy. I was having fantasies of running away and living on my own for a while. As for Intimacy, Forget it! Didn't have any desire what so every. What's the point, right? I also did not feel very attractive and the discharge from my body was so gross. My periods would start early and I bled half the month. My periods started off with a brownish/grainy discharge and then went into a red. The most disturbing part, I was craving alcohol to take the edge off. I'm Done! I'm looking forward to getting back to my natural nutty self. At least this person I'm more familiar with and I know the ups and downs of my natural Hormones. The only good thing I can say about the nuvaring is that my skin looks fantastic! I'm so happy I found this site and thought I should share my experiences as well. Good luck to all of you and those who have found your way here. I'm off to the herb store for some good vitamins and some natural healing. I will never do this to my body again.

I am in my first month and experienced nausea and migraine headaches with breakthrough bleeding. Noticed a little more sensitivity, crying urges and irritability; but I have slight mood swings anyway. My doctor says this is pretty common the first three months, but should pass after.

I also think I am having an allergic reaction to Zoloft (which I have been taking for about a month in a half, started at 50 mg and then my Doc. uped the does to 100 mg an few weeks ago due to horrifying panic attacks I started having.) As each day goes by my symptoms get worse. My chest hurts, body aches, trouble breathing, stomach pains, constipation, light headed, congested, indigestion, a rash that was on my stomach that put me in the Hospital (which they told me they thought I could be having an allergic reaction and gave me steroids) The Rash went away after the steroids all symptoms went away..then when I went to the Doctor she says I'm not allergic to them because the rash wasn't all over my body and that the rash went away and came back..my gut feeling is telling me my side effects are getting worse and I need to stop and I don't think my Doc. even cares to much about it. I am just scared to stop cold turkey bc of all the horrid side effects..should I stop slowly?

I got my Mirena IUD (5yr) inserted on 30September2009 and it was very painful. Probably because im only 19 and my husband and i have no kids. Its not 21November2009 and im still having heavy bleeding. I did notice that i had an increase in hair loss, my hair sheds like crazy but until Mirena it is coming out in very small clumps. I also noticed that my face has broke out more with acne. Around 01November2009 i had HORRIBLE HORRIBLE cramps, i ended up going to my doctors asap and they found a cyst. I dont know if it was a cyst caused my the Mirena or if it was only noticeable until the Mirena. I had my doctor go in and check for my strings and she couldn't find them, so i got an xray to find out the my Mirena has shifted a bit and my strings are now up in my Cervix. My husband is in the Army and is Deployed so i dont know how sex it. Everyone's information has helped me out a lot. and i hope that my long crazy journey has helped someone as well. :)

I am a 37 year old man who weighed approximately 188lbs when I prescribed 20mg of Lipitor and fish oil to combat my high triglycerides(437) and my high total cholesterol(212) in August of 2009. I have a high stress job and was experiencing occasional chest pain and heart palpitations. In addition, I have psoriasis and psoriasis arthritis and take Enbrel injections weekly. Prior to taking Lipitor, I had normal liver function tests.

At the same time that I began the fish oil and Lipitor, I began to change my eating habits and began a regular exercise routine. I began to feel better and lose weight. I was enthused about my progress. I took my Lipitor at night, however, I found it difficult to get up in the mornings and I was a little more tired than normal.

Roughly 3 months after beginning Lipitor, I developed a condition of EXTREME thirst. Blood tests from my doctor revealed elevated Liver Levels. His first inclination was that it was Lipitor so I stopped taking it ASAP. A subsequent test a week later indicated little improvement in my liver tests. My doctor suggested we give it two more weeks to test it. I just got my tests back and they actually increased!(ALT 197, AST 90, ALP 571).

My cardiologist does not have anything to suggest other than the possibility of a fatty liver, gall stones, or liver disease. His recommendation was that I get an ultrasound next week of my liver and meet with a GI doctor.

My excessive thirst and fatigue continues. I am not jaundiced but I do frequently experience dark urine. I weigh myself every morning and my weight is now down to 174. I seem to be losing very gradual weight now though my eating habits have returned to my old routine. This worries me. I am now worried that this drug triggered something terrible in my system. Does anyone have any advice?

I started the medication @ 100mg. It immediately gave me energy and feeling of well being. With in a week I would start to "crash" around mid-day. I would cry over nothing and was terribly sad. After two weeks I went to my doctor. My Dr. said this meant the meds were working and increased my dose to 300mg. I have been on 300mg for only a week and already have terrible itching all over, but mainly on my scalp. I can't stop scratching. I have had mild breakouts (small groups of little bumps) on vairous parts of my body. Two family members have already commented on how thin my hair is (scalp starting to show) and I have blurred vision. I also have 'cotton mouth' along with constant mild headaches.
On top of all this, instead of feeling happy I feel empty/blah/void. I am neither happy nor sad. It is kinda like I am in a hazy daze, a little cloudy headed. (I am scratching my head as I type this). I am going to talk with my Dr., but I don't believe that I will be continuing this medication. I think therapy might be an answer for me, instead of the meds.
I do believe that if I could follow healthy guidelines for living I might be better off. Exercise and eating a healthy diet is known to improve moods. Its the doing of these things thats hard.

I am a 39 year old white female in the nursing profession (RN). I was placed on Topamax at the age of 31 for new onset atypical complex seizures that were later diagnosed as migraine induced drop attacks. I took Topamax for 3 years. I took 100mg a day. My family and I had moved to another state and I had to find another Neurologist. During this time I had many side effects from the medication that I blamed on my "condition." To make a very long story short, while taking Topamax, I developed a kidney stone, severe restless leg syndrome, weight loss, feet tingling, blurred vision, mood swings, slurred speech and mental confusion that went into amnesia. I had to relearn how to drive a car, spell, do 2nd grade math, use a computer, etc...
I now have permanent memory loss. I struggle every day with my memory issues. I have learned tricks of how to deal with it but have not been able to recoup any previously lost cognition. After nearly 6 years of being off the medication I doubt I ever will. I feel inadequate and embarrased with my inability to remember people and things or form normal sentences during a conversation! I know the information is in my head but I can't always pull it forward. Some days are worse than others.
I also have a harder time learning new things. The information just doesn't want to stay "stored" in my brain. (Not a problem patients or doctors want to see in a critical care nurse!)
I hope my experience will save others from suffering the same fate. Use extreme caution taking this medication. It can drastically alter your life.

I had a cortisone shot in my left shoulder this morning and don't have to tell you how painful the shot is and my shoulder is still extremely in pain now. had the high blood pressure and flushing, but added is my numb feeling arm all the way down to my figers tingling. I can grip light objects with my fingers and lift, but as soon as I start to lower them my arm flops straight down. It's now 12 hours later ans my fingers are feeling 50% better. My arm still falls, but at a lower level. I feel a little nausea. I have had shots before and never had a numbing reaction. (2) other areas. This is NOT from sleeping on it. I can't even lay on that side. Only saw one other with tingling fingers side effect. Mine is the full arm. Hope it goes away by tomorrow. Of course this is a weekend. Lucky I'm 62 and no kids to pick up. I am still worried.

I have been taking Biaxin XL 500mg for three days now for bronchitis. I have been sick to my stomache, I have had the runs, and the WORST taste in my mouth ever, no matter how much I brush my teeth or chew gum. Another shock came when I got my period. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and do NOT get a natural period. Unless I take birth control and induce a period, I do not get one. Plain and simple. While I wiped after peeing, I noticed that the wipe felt a bit 'slimey' (gross I know) I pulled the tissue up to see what was the matter, and there it was, a bloody mucous mixed with my urine, and what looked like they could be blood clots, in the toilet, however they looked more like balls of bloody phlegm. Doctor said, sit it out and keep it clean.

i was on estratest for years, and recently my pcp switched me to estradiol. i am experiencing itching, weight gain, and hot flashes.

Ok, caseybo if I were you I would have my bloods checked. It's not a joke since Yasmine may cause a vit B deficiency. Sounds like vit B12 or B6, actually. Get yourself checked up. You can top up your vit b6 easy by introducing some vit. suplements and meaty and eggy diet but b12 as being stored in a liver has to be injected if lacked.I have just come off Yasmine because I had a descreased sex drive up to the point there was no purpose to take a pill.Also bad skin and getting erraticly moody. I have been off for just over a week now after being on for 8 mths. Blime!I soo bloated, have PMS-like symptoms including aching ovaries, back pain, mussle pain, tiredness, overall fatigue and the strangest one: tingling sensation all over my upper body, like something is creeping on me.anybody experienced that?Cannot wait to get back to my old normal. I only hope I won't put any wt on!I do not have an apettite at all as for now.Also want my boobs to get back smaller as DD seems to be to heavy.

I have been sick for 7 months! I got the mirena in June of 2008 because I was still breastfeeding and wanted something that wouldnt interfere with that. While on it I bled every single day. I kept reading that it was normal to have spotting for a few months so I stuck with it. I did have vaginal dryness and pain with intercourse. In February 2009, the pain with intercourse got worse and then i could no longer feel the strings. I went to a new GYN and she said she could only see the tiny end of one string and did i want it removed? YES! I was relieved that it wasnt lost inside me! I saw it and it looked intact. I went back to Nuvaring which I had used before I had my 2nd daughter and liked it. March was ok. When I put the new ring in in April I immediately started having vaginal itching. It got progressively worse to where i could not stand it! Went to the GYN and she said it was "the worst yeast infection shes seem". Put me on 2 pills of diflucan. The next day started abdominal pain, fever, and severe itching! She said to take benadryl. By Monday I was VERY ill and went to my family dr. He said I had "clue cells" and diagnosed as Vaginosis but said he thought the nuvaring might be causing toxic shock syndrome. He removed it. I went on Flagyl, Bactrim, and had a rocephin shot. He tested me for every STD. Everything was normal except my elevated WBCs and sed rate. I slowly got better. Then 3 weeks later decided i needed birth control and started loestrin FE. Had sores in my mouth, abdominal pain, nausea, fatigue, hair loss, irregular vaginal bleeding. After 1 month switched to Ortho tricylcin Lo. Had continued abdominal pain and terrible headaches. But also had 9 days of bleeding midcycle and then started having rectal bleeding, bleeding when i brushed my teeth, skin tears around my fingernails. Then a cervical laceration from very regular intercourse. Quit birth control! I was sure it was making me sick. I had a pelvic ultrasound because of the bleeding. They found my uterus is the size of a 12 week pregnancy but dont know why and that I had a functional ovarian cyst. Then started having pelvic pain so bad it hurt to walk or sit down. Went to a new GYN (mine was on maternity leave). She diagnosed PID. Rocephin shot, Azithromax. The pain got better. But dr. called when everything came back negative and wanted a followup. Then she said there wasnt anything wrong except a yeast infection and why wasnt i on birth control? They dont listen!!!! Also said it sounds like something wrong with my immune system so I went to my GP and had a physical. Everything is normal. He thinks all my problems are coming from the GYN stuff but didnt run any labs to check my immune system. 2 weeks later I got a lump in my armpit and they put me on Bactrim. The next week I got a cold and had to use my inhaler 10 times a day and I usually never ever need it. They put me on nebulizer, oral steroids and antibiotics. 2 days later I began having horrible itching, rash on my perineum, and discharge, with the pelvic pain and low grade fevers. Went to my old GYN and she was very concerned. Put me on flagyl and 7 days of diflucan. Then 2 days later went to the er with pelvic pain. CT showed ovarian cyst, went home with vicodin. Next day the pain was so bad i couldnt drive myself to the dr! They scheduled emergency laparoscopy. My right ovary was twice the size of the left and full of blood. I thought that had been the culprit all along. 1 week later i got huge painful lumps with pus exudate on my labia. Dr said it was a skin infection, put me on Bactrim. 1 week later the pelvic pain returned worse than ever before! Worse than the post op pain! Dr said it does present as PID but i have no cause. Put me on 2 weeks of Levaquin and Flagyl and scheduled a biopsy to test for endometritis (chronic inflammation of the endometrium). She said she thought the Mirena IUD might have started all of this. Slowly got better. Biopsy was very painful. Got the results today. Negative. I am again having pelvic pain, itching, discharge, rash on my perineum. I found a specialist at the Houston Medical Center and miraculously got an appointment for next week! Another GYN I talked to said she thought i was having an immune response to the Mirena IUD or an allergy to something in it. I am still very ill! The Dr.s have mentioned a hysterectomy. I cant believe that I am going to lose my uterus and the possibility of any more children at age 28!!!! And I feel like i am slowly dying! I have spent thousands of dollars at this point on tests and copays and medications. Please help me!

I was diagnosed with a bronchial infection 8 days ago and was prescribed the generic form of Biaxin, Clarithromycin (500 MG tablets). About 3 days into treatment, I started having a bad taste in my mouth. I can brush my teeth and rinse with mouthwash, but it still lingers. When I cough, it tastes like it comes up with my cough.

I have an already sensitive stomach, but have had problems every day since starting on the Clarithromycin. I've been taking it each time with food and/or milk, so my stomach is not empty.

On Day 3 of taking this medicine, I ran a fever of 102 and thought I had the flu. However, the fever went away the next day and I was just left with the already existing croupy cough.

I'm now on Day 8 and still have the lingering bad taste and stomach issues. I can't wait to be done with this drug! In the future, I'll be sure to get something other than Biaxin/Clarithromycin!

I was recently given Levaquin for a minor chest cold. I took four 500mg tablets and on the fifth day I was standing at my desk and had horrible heart palpitations, numbness, shortness of breath. My blood pressure shot up from 105/66 to 180/96 and I collapsed on the floor. I was rushed to the hospital and admitted for two days due to an allergic reaction to this medicine. My pulsox dropped to 54% and I had another episode causing tremors, heart palpitations and vomiting in front of the doctor and he wouldn't admit that it had anything to do with the levaquin. I had an MRI, EKG and Chest X-RAY. My blood was analyzed and they stated that my cardiac enzymes were fine but that my heart palpitations were a definite concern. I had a return episode yesterday and spent the entire day in the E.R. for the same symptoms. I am a thirty five year old peace officer in the prime of my life. I work out daily, practice karate and eat healthy. My family has no prior history of heart problems and last year I received a reduction in my life insurance premium because I exceeded their health criteria. I was feeling just fine until 45 minutes after taking this medicine. Today I have an event heart monitor on my chest and an appointment to see a cardiologist, endocrinologist etc. The methodist nurse contacted me today and stated that she has personally dealt with hundreds of these cases and has dealt with hundreds of these "reactions" to levaquin. She also stated that I would never get a doctor to admit it and that she would never take it if it was prescribed to her. This medicine is black box labeled and still the FDA allows it on the market. It needs to be stopped. I'm not the lawsuit type but I will make it my lifes mission to annoy the FDA until this poison is off the market. lilwolffy@yahoo.com

I have had the Mirena in for 5 years and just had it replaced this past June, I myself have alot of the same side effects, feeling like I could pee my pants at times. I am 48 yrs old. When I had a new one put it, the Dr. had a really hard time due to my uterus/cervix being tilted (which I was not aware of). Has anyone ever had pain in their rectum after a bowel movement, or like right now I have the pain there, very painful. Not sure if it is due to my uterus/cervix tilted, Mirena? I feel tired alot, moodiness, I thought that was part of the perimenopausal, but reading the other side effects from younger women, it is the same.

I've had most of the side effects mentioned in these posts. But the biggest problem I've had is the massive mood swings I've had. I'm talking really bad temper tantrums. Has anyone else had this? My oestrogen level is sitting under 130 which is way below the normal 750 - 1400 level. I am only 35, but in a psudo menopause state. I tell you what, if I cannot conceive once this thing is removed, I will sue the pants off them! How can no one tell me that I could LOSE my ability to conceive if I use this? I used to have normal levels and now I'm menopausal? At 35? Do me a freaking favour. Take this thing off the market. NOW.
