Im not sure if there's any connection, but I took Augmentin for 7 days for an abcess in my lower jaw molar, right side. I am suffering now from tinnitus. But it happend at the same time I was sleeping only 4 hours a day, preparing lessons for school which I did for 2 months, and I was drinking more than my usual serving of brewed coffee--twice a day, big mug, maybe 10 oz mug.

my little girl (27months) had 3 days of over 40°fever but with no seeable symptoms. the doctor reckons she has tonsillitis although she hasn't told me she has had throat pain. anyway he persuaded me to give her augmenting and she has had 3 doses now but is suddenly COMPLETELY CRAZY AND AGGRESSIVE. she was quite ill anyway and a bit wriggly but this is weird. I NEVER normally take antibiotics and cant believe i have been persuaded to give her her first dose. but this reaction (if it is to that) is so weird she also started shaking today and her lips went blue foe a while. again not sure if its the illness but my feeling gis its the drugs. should I stop?

I avoid this drug at all costs. Severe stomach pain. The side effects are worse than the problem the drug is trying to get rid of.

I was on augmentin for 6 days for an ear infection. I did not develop diaharrea but severe pain in my upper abdominal, with nausea and some vomiting. I will never take it again.

My friend was on this for a severe infection (cellulitis) and if his infection wasn't bad enough as soon as he started the augmentin he had stomach cramps and diarrhea and constant vomiting. Finally we discovered the side effects could be that and he went off it. It almost landed him BACK in the hospital. After one day off that med the stomach issues stopped. Careful if your Dr prescribes this medicine.

My 5 yr old daughter was placed on Augmentin for an ear infection, two days into the 10 day regimen she had severe diarrhea, so they decreased her dosage to half, three weeks later OFF of the Augmentin she is still having severe stomach cramps and loose stooling. I would try to talk your pediatrician into another medication for ear infections, this one is NASTY!

After taking my 2 yr. old son to the emergency room 3 days ago with a high fever, was given Augmentin. They determined he had a red throat and shoved this awful medicine down his throat. They said it was a precaution incase he had an infection, so it wouldn't get worse. I have no choice but to continue to give it to him now.
He is normally an easy going kid. Since I have been giving Augmentin to him he has been very cranky, and miserable. He has diareah and is now developing a red rash. It's barely noticeable but it's spreading all over his body and it's a little darker than it was yesterday. His appetite is not as good as it was either.
Oh, one of its ingredients is aspertame. This sweetner has been known to cause grand mal seizures and migraines. What is this doing in a childs medicine? In any medicine for that matter? Is there an alternative to this medicine out there?

Let's just say I took Augmentin for 3 days total for my bronchitis. I had diarrhea for 3 weeks. I stopped taking it because by the first night I was on the toliet non stop. By the third day it was interupting my daily life.
Stay clear.
