I have been on Advair since Feb. of this year, I have had a lot of these side effects but didn't really realize it was from this med. At first I was told to take it 2x a day, reading the directions it says it has to be 12 hours exactly apart. My work schedule didn't allow that so I just took it 1x....Working 2 jobs I just thought when I couldn't sleep and was always tired, it was from working a lot. When I told the Dr. about not being able to sleep more than 4 hours, I was told since I was taking the meds 1x a day that wasn't it. After a bad cold and bronchitis I was told I had to take the Advair 2x a day, now i'm more tired than ever, still can't sleep and have a headache that won't go away even with migraine medicine. I'm even jittery and forgetful--kinda ditsy now and itchy off and on all day...After reading this blog site I see its not in my mind and i'm going to stop taking this med. I think i'm going to the health food store and find something natural.

I have just tried Advair, and after 4 days, joints all over my body started to ache. My eyes hurt alot and my vision got blurry. Lastly, I just have a general feeling of unease. I quit the advair and was much better within 3 more days.
All pain is gone and eyes feel normal again, although my eye sight seems diminished. I took no other drugs and felt fine before taking the Advair.

I am 44 and suffer from mild copd. I can get by with Albuteral, and will do
so from now on. I know that one is safe.

Good luck to all.

ive taken advair for 3 years, ive had a few side effects including: weight gain, pains in my leg, and tiredness. i dont know if these are from the advair or not. i never had these issues before taking it. i really dont know what to do. if im not on advair i have a hard time breathing and have chest pains. Does breathing better out weigh the side effects that it causes??? i have problems with inflamation and advair seems to work well with that aspect. Is there natural alternatives? HELP!!!

I don't know if what I'm experiencing is side-effects or old age (55), but I thought I had arthritis in my left big-toe (taking aleeve to help inflammation), and the toe felt as if it was trying to 'turn' my foot. Now this morning my left calf-muscle felt that it was trying to 'turn' my leg inward. It still feels uncomfortable after getting out of bed, but very disturbing. Advair was first given to me when I was using my inhaler too many times and I felt wonderful relief at being able to breathe freely, but now I'm not so sure if this is the cause of the other problems. How can you know for sure what is causing what problem?

I have been taking Advair 500 and 250 for three years. During that time I thought I separated my shoulder or did some type of injury. I was x-rayed and given a cortisone shot. The pain was relieved for about 2 months. I have a high tolerance so I decided to live with it. Next, my hips were so painful that I could barely walk. I was x-rayed. The doctor said I had inflamation, but not arthritis. Then my wrists were painful. I thought carpal tunnel syndrom from typing... so I was mindful of my time on the computer. Now, for about half a year I have experienced severe pain in my left elbow. This is so bad I sometimes can not even lift a glass of water. I thought I must have some weird type of migrating arthritis... or just Advairitis!!! So here I am "Googling" my symptoms only to learn that it is possibly from the Advair. Carol

Ive gained about 30lbs in the last year since Ive been on Advair. Is it true that it has steroids similar to prednisone in it? Everytime Ive ever been on Pred for a short or extended period of time I always went through this weight gain, then dropped it. But now I cant live without Advair. If I go a day or 2 without it I have terrible asthma inflammation. These criminals have me hooked. So continue to take it and keep getting heavier, or stop and lose to asthma. What should I do? Is there an alternative? How come noone told me about this side effect? Why do drs think this is so safe but other sterroids are unsafe? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Reading all the messages on this site has been helpful. I've been on Advair for a couple years and have had leg cramps on-and-off. I never thought about them being related to Advair. Many years ago, I had colon surgery (Koch Pouch). I never had any problems for 15 years. However, during the past two years, I've had one inflammation after another and have been on antibiotics more than I like. I'm going to discontinue Advair and see if it makes a difference. Thanks for all the information you provided here. If going off helps, I'll post again.

I was on Advair 3 days. On the third day I was rushed to the emergency room and treated for shortness of breath, chest pain and my mouth, throat and tongue were on fire. I was admitted to ICU and was treated for cardiac arrest. The shortness of breath was caused from an asthma attack brought on by advair, the chest pain and upper backpain (which I still was suffering from when released after 3 days in hospital) caused an inflammation of my chest wall and my mouth, throat and tongue were treated for second degree burns. I believe all these complications I endured were caused from advair. I believe advair could have killed me if I did not seek medical attention when I did. I do NOT recommend this medication to anyone at any age.

I am using albuterol and Advair for my asthma. I have started to notice joint pain. I went to the dr for the joint pain and tested positive for inflammation, she gave me prednisone which got rid of the pain within hours and helped my asthma. After I was done with the prednisone, the joint pain was still there.

I was also taking st. johns wort. Have since discontinued that so but still had joint pain after I stopped it so I am thinking that Advair is the cause of the joint pain. I have noticed that since I tapered off the Advair, my joint pain is gone now.
