My husband has been on Advair first for bronchitis, now they say he has asthma. He was better after taking Prednisone, with the Advair, but during that time he became extremely irritable. I thought it was from the steroids, but now he's been off Prednisone for 2 weeks, and the rage continues. The tiniest things make him so mad, and he used to be so mild and easy going. It is starting to really scare my daughter, and it makes me so sad to see the change in her. I can't see living like this forever. Aside from that, the coughing and excessive mucus in his throat continue. Has anyone else had these extreme personality changes?
Thanks.

I was prescribed the advair inhaler about 2 years ago. I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and the physician suggested it to me. I didn't know how it would change my life forever. I started using it immediately. Soon after I experienced severe chest pain, shortness of breathe, flu-like symptons, pain in my legs and hands. I encountered slurred speech and memory loss. I found it difficult to fall asleep as well as trying to stand up. I vomitted a lot and I was constantly clinching my chess. I thought I was losing my mind. I stop taking the medicine and went straight to the doctor. I receive to known reason for this strange side-effects. I just continue to heal from this devastating event. I thought my life would never be the same. I found strength in God and my family. I had to just let the effect wear-off. I had also had chest x-rays and ekg screenings but nothing conclusive. I was just another unfortunate person lingering at the hands of modern medicine. I still don't know why it's still on the market. I may have helped some with asthma but many of us are still recovering from the side-effects alone. I am still struggling today. I still have severe chest pain and pain in my fingertips. Normal breathing is still a challenge for me. I don't think I will ever be totally free of this nightmare but at least I didn't lose my life in the whole ordeal. And that alone is good enough for me.

Just found this site and am so relieved to know that I'm not going crazy! I took Advair for only two weeks after a poor spirometry reading at my doctor's office and had such horrible anxiousness and panic attacks that I thought I was losing my mind. Needless to say I stopped taking it. I later was told by an Allergy/Asthma specialist that there's some kind of stimulant in Advair (much like caffeine) that most likely caused the adverse reaction. I'm highly sensitive to caffeine and other stimulants. I warn anyone with this same sensitivity to discuss it with their doctor before taking Advair. I will never take it again.

OMG!! I thought I was losing my mind untiil I read a post here with my symptoms. Sensations of heat and cold at the same time. Very cold and body temp below 97 degrees. Have been on Advair 250/50 for about 2 years. Shortly afterwards, started having low thyroid and hard to maintain weight. Used to be on Albuteral, Atrovent and Pulmocort. Have emphysema along with asthma component. It is hard to breathe for about 30 min after taking Advair. Want to go back to my old meds, or at least try something different like Foradil, maybe.

I've been takig Advair 250x2 for about a year now and until I found this website I thought I was losing my mind. Side effects include thrush (and I rinse with half peroxide and half water, brush teeth, and then rinse with Listerine after i use the advair), leg cramps, dizziness, "lung pain", weight gain, post nasal drip, sleeplessness.....I have an apointment with my Doctor tomorrow, I think I'll suggest that he take me off advair and put me on something else!

I'm 24 year old female, and I've been using Advair for about 3 weeks now, and have used it for a month at a time previously in the past. I remember that it always seems to help at first, give me more energy, and making my running better (I was a competitive runner in college and developed asthma as an adult), but after about a two week period, the medication actually seems to stop helping, and instead I start getting chest tightness, severe acid reflux, naseau, headaches and muscle fatigue. I've also had incredible sleeplessness, excitability and restlessness, and rather significant weight loss, which at first I attributed to running more (and I'm sure its a combination), but I think the restlessness is to blame for a lot of it.

Additionally, despite rinsing, my voice is hoarse, my mouth always tastes bad, and I have to swallow or drink liquids all the time. My ezxema has gotten much worse, and I've developed acne on the sides of my face, which hasn't happened in years.

I thought maybe I was losing my mind, but this site has made my fears seem quite reasonable.

I thought I was losing my mind. Now I know after reading entries on this site what the problem has been. I am a 43 year old male who has suffered with asthma since being a small child. During my early years, I was more less raised in an oxygen tent. I have been taking Advair for the last six months. After the first month, I starting getting horrific cramps in my calves and toes during the night, constant headaches, tightness in the chest, constant stomach pains on both sides, joint pains, sneezing, runny nose, diarrhea, thrush, difficulty in speaking after 2-4 minutes, depression, fatigue, tired all the time, mood swings, pain in my shoulders, neck & back, short term memory, weight gain around the stomach, and tingling sensations down the arms to the fingertips. I just looked at the long, extensive insert that comes with the Advair Diskus, and NOWHERE does it mention anything about side effects, nor did my doctor mention that there were potential side effects. As of today, I have stopped Advair cold turkey! I just spoke to my brother who is a Pharmacist, and he said it would take less than a week for this poison eliminated from my bloodstream. I plan on just going back to my old faithful albuterol. At least this way, I will regain my life back. We as a society have become victimized by the television drenched marketing scam of the drug entities. I have come to the conclusion that there will be a special place in HELL for them. So, say a prayer for them, cuz they're gonna need it!

I have had asthma for over 20 years. I am now 25 and have been on Advair for over 2and 1/2 yrs. Advair definitely has helped, I can breath enough to run again, no wheezing or struggling for breath no hospital visits since I started the med....BUT I have also gained over 40 pounds (and still gaining), get chronic migraines, and have definite Cushing's like symptoms. Plus I get thrush in my mouth every couple of months. And don't forget the insomnia, jittery feelings, tremor and rapid heartbeat. All of these symptoms started since I began taking Advair and continue to worsen. And to top it off, my Pulomonlogist insists the Advair cannot be causing all of these problems. I thought I was losing my mind until I found this forum. Advair is no miracle drug and should be taken with extreme caution.
