Similar to P.O.W. interrogation. Great torture. After two months, my muscles were in a perpetual state of motion. Starting with but not limited to my calves, my muscles would turn into tight knots anywhere, anytime, for no apparent reason. Constant pain and muscle cramping, exhausted, vomiting, losing weight. Sent to multiple specialists before my 6 month asthma recheck. Diagnoses ranged from viral syndrome to fibromyalgia. One quack actually told me that my job(E.M.T.) was too stressfull for my age(34) and that I should change careers. Symptoms started to resolve about 2 weeks after stopping the Advair, completely resolved after 2 months, One year for the muscle/tendon damage to heal, psychological damage still uncertain.

Been on Advair for 10 months, and have gained 20 lbs since then!! Also experience sharp head pains, foot & leg cramps, short term memory loss, irritability and mood swings, increased menstrual flow, slow healing of wounds, etc. Main concern is rapid weight gain! I went to my dr today to discuss...she claims to be unaware of any of these side effects being related to Advair....she can't imagine weight gain as Advair is a powder that goes into just the lungs. My mid section is where I have gained mostly. After reading all the boards on different websites, I am surprised to see how many are experiencing the same side effects with Advair, & I am convinced that it is the cause. I asked dr to prescribe something else, & she did...asmanex & serevent....haven't tried it yet...but I now read that asmanex is also linked to weight gain. I feel so frustrated that I can't rely on my dr for this, & feel like I have to fiure it all out on my own. I'm scared to continue with these meds but I need something to keep my mild asthma under control....everyday. Can anyone recommend anything to me? Should I switch to non-steroid? Any feedback on Singulaire somethin similar? Any information will be helpful. Thanks!

SEVERE jaw/tooth pain, I drink something immediately after and assumed that was sufficient.
20 lbs weight gain in two months with diet and exercise. Was actually losing weight up until that point.
Restlessness
Arthritis type pain in hands, very painful and swollen, comparable to what I experienced with toxemia during late pregnancy.
Has helped my asthma tremendously. Terrible dilemma. I need to breathe but diabetes or a heart attack because of weight gain doesn't appeal to me either.

Gained 15 pounds since I started taking advair. I was told no weight gain or side effects. I was dieting and losing weight up until I started with advair. Still excercise but still gaining weight.
Did help, but I stopped taking it because of weight gain

This registry is a place to share positive or negative side effects of using Advair HFA. If you directly experienced a side effect while using Advair HFA, then we encourage you to enter it here. Please note that entries here are the experiences of individual users, and in no way means that you or anyone else will experience the same side effect, since the same medication affects people in different ways. Please always contact your physician.

Tried to quit cold turkey but asthma flared up immediately. Doctor put me on Asthmanex and told me that I can't escape taking an inhaled steroid. However, since being off Advair my mood is much better and I feel hopeful again. Also back to using my nebulizer. But I at least I am starting to feel like my old self again. Going to see a nutritionist at end of month which will hopefully unlock the key to losing weight while on steroids!
