Advair HFA and moodiness

My son has been taking advair 250/50 for 19 months now. He was said to have exercise induced asthma and allergies. But since he has been on it we have noticed behavioral changes, moodiness, extremely emotional, headaches and leg pains.

Could this be advair? Doctors say no but I don't know what else to think. Afraid to stop the medication. Don't know what to do.

Moodiness, I have become short tempered.
Also, terrible acne. Just awful. I'm 35, look like I'm going through puberty again!

I was given advair for asthma and it helped my breathing. I was experiencing alot of joint and hip pain, which I did not know at the time was caused by the advair.the pain was so bad I droped out of college and saw a orthopedic surgeon. I was convinced I would need surgery on my knee. I was diagnosed with chrondomylagia( spelling?) and was told to begin physical therapy. I never did the physical therapy, I did not really have the time and to be honest I was in so much pain I just did not want to go.I was also very irritable which I chalked up to be from being in so much pain and frequent headaches. My husband switched jobs so we had no health insurance for a couple of months. I ran out of the Advair during this time. all of my symptoms went away within that time period, still not realizing it was the advair. When we got our new insurance I began the Advair again within three days of taking 250/50 my knees were really hurting that same feeling of such pressure behind the knee cap and such pain bending and walking up stairs, etc. My hip started aching it was as though I had severe arthritis over night. my moodiness and headaches were back. Thats when it hit me its the Advair and I started to research it and found this site. I have not taken it today. I will call my DR. to see if there is something else I can take and hope for less side effects. well good luck to all of you. I hope this was helpful. I have been using Advair 100/50 for about 2 months. I was diagnosed with adult asthma over a year ago. Was on Flovent/Albuterol combo. I have been reading all the comments of Advair side effects. Personally, I don't think it's working for me - I seem much worse! I have some of the side effects already mentioned such as: increased anxiety (I'm already taking Clonazepam - over a year); trouble sleeping; can't concentrate; headaches (more than usual); moodiness; bad eczema on my hands; difficulty breathing at times' hardly any appetite and other minor things. I told my doctor (saw him last month) about what I have been reading and he said "don't believe all that you read on the internet". I like to be informed, although the doctors don't tell you everything and I do believe most of what I've been reading here.

I am so, so glad i found this site! (like most of you).
I have been back and forth to the docs for the past 2 years for unexplainable severe swelling of the knees and ankles. I have asthma, but I also have Ulcerative Colitis. There is an arthritis associated w/ Colitis that can sometimes cause joint pain/ swelling, but I havent had severe problems with it until I started taking Advair. I didnt make the connection because it didnt start right away. I started taking Advair in Jan 2003. I had my first severe knee swelling in April 2003. They took blood tests and saw that my Rheumatoid factor was extremely high. They sent me to a Rheumatologist to test me for Rheumatoid Arthritis, but the tests kept coming back negative. They couldnt figure it out. I never made the connection until now. I guess I didnt think about it because of the fact that I have Colitis, plus it wasnt happening so often, but within the past 6 - 8 months, it has increased alot. My knees swell all the time and my ankles are always swollen. My calves are heavy and tight. My feet swell all the time and the pain is unbarable.

Other symtons include:

achiness in hips
abdominal weight gain
overall weight gain
depression/moodiness
waking up @ night
sore throats
tenderness in roof of mouth
cant concentrate
headaches
and probably more that I cant thionk of right now.

I never thought it had to do with this med. But I dont understand why my doctors never firgured it out. They know what meds I take. Whats the point of me telling them what meds I take if they dont take it into consideration that this may be the cause of some of my problems??? I feel like a fool because I should have has sense enough to do my own investigating. All these docs do is right you a prescription and/or refer you to another specialist who tells you the same crap.....which is nothing!!!! We all need to be carefull w/ these meds. they can be dangerous. I am going to make an appt. w/ my doc so I can be weaned of of this med. Like most of you have mentioned, this medication works great for my asthma but all the side effects are not worth it.

began advair 100/50 twice a day for asthma approx 1 year ago. dose
increased to 250/50 after 6 months. has REALLY helped my asthma but after stumbling upon this website i am left wondering about it's side effects. i have experienced:
unexplained calf and feet cramps
pimply rash over stomach and back
moodiness/irritability
feels like i have a ball of mucous in the back of my throat
high blood pressure (for the first time in my life)
high blood sugar (diabetes does not run in my family and i'm 5'8" and only weigh 115 lbs.)
dark circles under my eyes
SEVERE dryness on the sides of my mouth
easy bruising
increased heartburn
stomach pain
hip pain, making walking difficult at times
overall increased joint/bone pain (prior diagnosis of osteoarthritis with
recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia)
frequent sore throat
blurred vision
inability to stay focused at times
i am unsure if my advair use has caused any or all of the above symtoms but after reading the similar side effects experienced by other
advair users, i am SERIOUSLY considering stopping my advair. i will be
back in touch once i reach my final decision and let you know if any of these conditions improve
