Advair HFA and oral thrush

I have been on Advair for approximately 8 years and have recently gone off of it. I posted a message earlier detailing the side effects that I experienced from going off of it, as I must have gotten used to living with the side effect so much that I didn't notice.

Anyway, one of the major reasons for going off of Advair was a constant problem with oral thrush. I took liquid medication for it for about two months, however, soon realized that I had a slight allergy to the medication I was prescribed. I found that by rinsing my mouth and gargalling (sp?) thoroughly I was able to finally get rid of the thrush, which also cleared up the hoarseness in my voice. My family doctor told me that sometimes the thrush is so deep in your throat that it will begin to grow on your vocal chords. Other specialists told me that the hoarseness wouldn't go away until I stopped taking Advair, however I found otherwise.

itching, muscle cramps in feet and now as of yesterday oral thrush, works great on the asthma though. The oral thrush is very scary. Sore throat in morning, hoarsenss. and chest pain. I will be calling my doctor to switch ASAP

I started on Advair on Christmas day and on New Years Eve I could not speak at all, I developed Oral Thrush and to this date am still having problems with my voice. I think Advair should be taken off the market it is very dangerous, I am in the medical field and this drug is not safe, especially for older people who have no knowledge of side effects, When my throat started I also had trouble breathing. GET THIS DRUG OFF THE MARKET.

i am one among you.one who silently suffered from the side effects of inhaler for asthma and one who prides on doing years of research in the internet about various issues concerning the disease.
i cant say i am a good researcher though coz i found this site after more than 2 yrs of active internet browsing.many things have changed in these years.i tried my hand at few alternatives.
to cut long story short, i am asthmatic since 8 yrs.used inhalers intermittently for most of that time.i used corticosteroids(initially budisonide and later Salmeterol+Fluticasone which is same as advair).i live in india.here the brand name for avair i seroflo.im 23 now.
ok i started getting side effects from year 2000.firstly i had rhinits.rhintis is another allergic disease.may not be a side effect but i have a very strange rhinitis.i just have a stubborn nose block 24 hrs a day and the nose block wud start immediatley after i take the inhaler.it happens the moment my lungs start feeling good from the inhaler.usually rhintis patients have itching runny nose or any other accompanying symptom and wud get releif from antihistamines.but i wudnt get.docs precribed a steroid spray for my nose.
then i had throat problem.frequent thraot infection and then narrowing of throat making it diificult to swallow.i reported it to the doc in 2001 and was sent to ent doctor for consultation.he sadi everythin is normal.
then i started having frequent urination,eye dryness and blurring vision sometimes,oral thrush,chronic diarrhoea,dizziness an light headed ness,diabetes like symptoms ,weakness,white patches on cheeks,hairloss,cramps in hands and legs,fluid retention etc.
all through this time i gained weight.i became a puffed up adult from a very thin guy.i have stretch marks near my neck and my face mooned up.well i also have a right bundle branch block in my heart .it many not be a direct symptom.and its normal in it that it has no known symptoms(its not a disease its present in healthy hearts too,it is nothing to be worried about)
when i went to th doctor with my side effects and the internet print out of cushings disease(which has same symptoms as my side effects) and candidiasis ,he made me undergo diabetis tests and hiv tests.from those results i was directed to a psychriatiast.
i decided to go big in the internet.i joined many groups ,read much and still i cudnot figure what i had.i still was taking medication for asthma.i thought all my symptoms are of asthma and rhintis.i decided to tkae allergy shots.in inida theres only 1 place to get them .i had to travel for 2 days in train to get them.this happened a year ago.and the shots so far did some good.
still i had the side effects i changed docotor.he wud write down my case as known asthmatic rhintis and depression.he was exactly like the previous one.i was ake to see psychriatist.i stopped him too.this happened 6 months before.
by this time i was using acidophilus to stop my diarrhoe and read a lot about homeopathy.
i didnt beleive in homeoapthy.but i tried it.its been 4 months so far.by this time i know what i have.i.e i know where from my symptoms have come.in homeopathy all these symptoms are actually well known.my homeo docotr said he had seen many lik me.but he said its a long proces atleast 6 months.until now i have seen that homeopathy will atleast stop those severe bouts of asthma attack and does some changes to most of the symptoms.well dizziness and head symptoms are firt to go away.yet i didnt have major releif from homeoapathy.but one thing is for sure,its not what i intially thought.
as of now i am able to control my asthma with homepathy and i am tkaing allergy shots.i do use the bronchilator inhaler soem times.but my stubborn nose nose block wudnt change much.

that was a post i made in thsi forum 1 and 1/2 year ago.now i am happy to say,my asthma allergies and all the side effects from long term allopathic drugs have finaly been totaly cured.homeopathy is slow,but has permanent cure.the onyl challenge being finding a good homeopath.

Gained pounds , oral thrush last year , depression...
dry throat even after rinsing....afraid of LONG_TERM effects?

I have been using Seretide (Advair) for around 6 months and like a lot of you thought the drug was wonderful with how it was controlling my Asthma. I am usually a fit and well person but over the last couple of weeks have been feeling so tired and lethargic, even the smallest task wiping me out. I thought nothing of it really, just stresses and strains of modern life. Then I started to get frequent palpitations and every time I fell asleep my heart would miss a beat and I would wake up. This would last a couple of hours and obviously over a matter of weeks I was getting more and more exhausted. I talked to my Doctor and she said that Seretide could cause abnormal heart rythyms, and along with the frequent oral thrush and dry mouth I have decided to give up on Seretide, hope it hasn't done any long term damage and resolve to using my salbutamol more often. It was great to find this site and discover that these side effects are not uncommon amongst others.

well i also pride myselves as a good writer.i wrote down the following piece when i was utterly helpless.ie when i was aske to see psychriatist and i didnt know where from i had so many debileating symptoms.

I entered into a region of darkness. Nothing seemed
to me. I turned around, everything appeared black. I tried to look
through it, yet nothing appeared. I stood still and quiet. I stopped
looking through. I saw I was surrounded by darkness. Just black
darkness.
I would wait now. I was getting very weak. I thought I
should sit now. But the darkness never changed.
I was sitting on the floor endlessly. I thought in my
selves endlessly. I lost track of the time. I only waited. I was
keen to catch anything.I moaned. I collapsed on the floor.
Finally I heard something.
I could hear some voices. Some familiar voices. They were
many. They were all talking about me. They were forming opinions on
me.
I raised my voice. I told them how everything around me is.
Some light began to appear.
Their image began to evolve from darkness. The image was
very blurred. Slowly it got clearer. The images of the persons who
were talking began to take shape. Their images were roughly formed.
I saw my parents, friends, relatives and even people I know
but never spoke to. But they weren't looking at me. They seemed to
have not noticed me.
I got up and spoke to them. I told them
everything. I cried. I shouted.I tried everyhting.
The image faded away. Darkness was again
filling up. I can only listen to them now.
They were talking about me. They were
forming opinions on me. They were talking very loudly. I couldn't
bear
the noise. I looked at the darkness. I fell on the floor. I realized
there is only darkness now. Just black darkness.
