Advair HFA and physical therapy

My daughter is no longer on advair, but when she was I thought she was a hypochondriac. She had asthma since age 3 and by the time she was in 4th grade she was put on advair. She gained weight in her face and stomach. She would have trouble concentrating on her school work, stayed moody. She would lash out for little or no reason. She always had some ache or pain. Almost every day either her head hurt or her stomach hurt. It was would last under an hour each time

She started having muscle pains. had to be in a walking cast twice for soft tissue damage to her ankle. She would have no idea how it got hurt. If she crawled on her knees playing she would get fluid on her knees. She would have knee pain off and on for a weeks at a time. All the time we were at one doctor or another. Every one of them said her asthma medicine would not cause this. The last straw was when in 6th grade her shoulders would pop out of place if she tried to do push ups in gym. She had to have physical therapy three times a week for three months. Even though the doctors told me not to she has been off of advair for 4 years now. All of the side effects went away with the except for the problems with her shoulders. She has to do exercises a few time a week to keep the muscle's strong to hold them in place.

I suspect Advair is responsible for my having come down with pneumonia,stabbing chest pains( which the Dr. at the ER suggested was Pleurisy) and severe back pain in my lower back. I haven't been able to sleep in bed for at least 6 weeks and must sleep in a chair with my feet propped up on an ottoman.I have used Advair since July 2007, first 250/50 then 500/50 and now back to 250/50 in order to reduce hoarseness. The pneumonia is gone after 5 days hospitalization; the pleurisy pain has just subsided with pain killers and anti inflammatory meds . But the severe lower back pain is still there; my orthopedic Dr. has recommended physical therapy which I plan to initiate. However, stopping the use of Advair may be exactly what I need to end the back pain. I would like to mention that I did experience Thrush upon using Advair and I found that it completely went away when I started drinking pure Pomegranate juice.It doesn't taste great but it was recommended by friends during the time I had pneumonia, and lo and behold, it seems to have done away with Thrush. The Advair along with Siriva does seem to help my asma but these suspected side effects are very debilitating.

I was given advair for asthma and it helped my breathing. I was experiencing alot of joint and hip pain, which I did not know at the time was caused by the advair.the pain was so bad I droped out of college and saw a orthopedic surgeon. I was convinced I would need surgery on my knee. I was diagnosed with chrondomylagia( spelling?) and was told to begin physical therapy. I never did the physical therapy, I did not really have the time and to be honest I was in so much pain I just did not want to go.I was also very irritable which I chalked up to be from being in so much pain and frequent headaches. My husband switched jobs so we had no health insurance for a couple of months. I ran out of the Advair during this time. all of my symptoms went away within that time period, still not realizing it was the advair. When we got our new insurance I began the Advair again within three days of taking 250/50 my knees were really hurting that same feeling of such pressure behind the knee cap and such pain bending and walking up stairs, etc. My hip started aching it was as though I had severe arthritis over night. my moodiness and headaches were back. Thats when it hit me its the Advair and I started to research it and found this site. I have not taken it today. I will call my DR. to see if there is something else I can take and hope for less side effects. well good luck to all of you. I hope this was helpful.
