I am a 45 year old woman. I have been on advair (it is called serevent in Australia) for about 2 1/2 years. I have noticed the following symptoms:
insomnia, headaches, weight gain, severe mood swings, chesty cough, sore chest, aches and pains all over and many more. Every time I would try to go off of it my asthma would seem to get worse so out of fear I would resume using it. I have now been off of it for 3 days and already I can feel the chesty cough starting to dry up. The irony is that I never had severe asthma, I was given advair because I got a very nasty flu and my asthma got worse. In hindsight I think it would have proably cleared up on its own. I would urge anyone to be very careful with this drug it is very, very dangerous!!!!

My 4 year old daughter was put on Advair about 3 months ago and within the last 3 weeks has been experiencing an unbelievable increase in her need to urinate. We have had her to the pediatrician 4 times in that window as well as urgent care and to a pediatric urologist. She underwent a renal ultrasound and was put on Ditropan. There is no underlying infection, the Ditropan hasn't helped her urge to go potty at all - in fact she had some severe reactions to it - and no one can give me any answers. In the meantime, this she is feeling the need to pee every five minutes AROUND THE CLOCK and simply can't go. No one in our house is sleeping because of it, her head hurts and she has this general feeling of being sick. In fact, her overall behavior and attitude has changed markedly in the last few months - tantrums, easily frustrated, moody. None of the Docs we've seen has linked these symptoms to Advair. We didn't give her the evening dose tonight, so we'll see if it makes a difference in her sleep. Anyone else with kiddos experiencing similar effects?

Has completely eliminated stridor and made breathing much easier.
But now there is an ever present frog in my throat and I constantly feel the urge to clear my thoat. This feels to be around the epiglottis area. Ocassionally I am able to expectorate a small amount of viscid phlegm which breaks loose from the bottom of my throat,(not my lungs).

I meant to puit this in my earlier post but had to leave, so here is a continuation... My eyes were also becoming involved. I was getting *blurred vision*. I suggested to my doctors that the Advair was causing my *labored breathing* but they both poo-pooed the idea. So, being the trusted soul that I am, I went on taking the Advair, continuing to suffer, when I wasn't having trouble breathing before I started taking it. The Advair dosage was raised twice to the full dosage. After six months of treaments and steroids that weren't helping, I gave up and took matters into my own hands and simply stopped taking it. I called my family doctor and told him I was doing so and he agreed. The symptoms eased up within a week. He told me that some patients can't tolerate Advair. There are alternatives, but please, I urge you to be careful as some of them are similar to Advair. I'm not sure if it was the kind of steroid or the fact that the combined medication is in powdered form that triggered my side effects.
There is also a discussion board here where everyone can talk to each other.
I wish you well.

My sun has suffered from three years of age with stomach pain and discomfort uppon eating he is now 12 years old. We have seen many doctors all of whom are very vague. His blood work consistantly comes back with low amylase and lipase. Yet they dont see any need for further investigation. I have been told he has a sensitive stomach. As a mother I see more. I live with him and see him every day. He eats very little, (i think it still hurts) he says he's not in pain anymore. At nine he was still thr...

Chest pain and pain in his pinky, unable to sleep at night at all. His eye sight was perfect but rescently he had to see an eye doctor for bluriness they perscribed him glasses. Will his eye sight stay blurry for good does anyone know? How can they give this crap out to people without warning them first about side effects? My husband even asked his doctor about side effects before taking it and the liar told him there are none.
