I just recently switched from Yasmin to Alesse.. due to Yasmin giving me ZERO sex drive and crazy emotions. I have not been on Alesse very long at all.. it has not even been a week! but all day today I have had a terrible headache!! I really just want to know if that will go away? Or if i will have to switch again! Since it is such a hassle to get a doctors appointment haha.
DO THE HEADACHES GO AWAY? I have not been able to do anything all day because of it =(

I was having problems with my birth control pill Marvelon, I just felt like I was PMSing all the time. One minute I was furious at nothing, and then I would just want to cry but about absolutely nothing at all and it was through the entire month not just before my period. I felt like I was going nuts. I had my doctor switch me and she put me on Alesse. But 6 months in my PMS like symptoms are still here but reduced, but now my skin looks terrible. My neck has completely broken out in what is almost a rash except it's all zits. This is what used to happen to me for years while on Tricyclen but the doctors would never believe me! They just kept saying it's meant to cure your acne (which I didn't even have before birth control) when I finally got off tricylin it all cleared right up and never came back after a full year of turtle necks and cover up makeup and that was 10 years ago. So I just had my doctor move me again, she's now prescribing Yasmin, which I hope will be much much better. One thing I do know is when they say it will get worse and then better, they don't know what they are talking about!! if you are still reacting to the pill after the first three months, then try a new one, there are so many options out there and living life with acne that will supposedly 'miraculously' eventually heal is just not worth losing a year of your life with no confidence because a doctor has a hunch it will all fix itself when it never really does. If you don't break out then stay on it and enjoy, but if you do then don't be patient and wait it out, don't be scared to tell your doctor you want to just try something else.

Its funny because I always thought all my symptoms were just 'me'. But now I am highly doubting this. I was on some heavy birth control quite a few years back and it led to severe panic attacks. So I was switched to yasmin, which seemed to help, and I had the most clear skin I've ever had and no break through bleeding, but I was quite emotional on it. After reading everything on these message boards a few months ago, it really got me worried that Yasmin was contributing to my side effects (oh and 0 sex drive by the way too), so I was switched to lessina/alesse. I am in my second pack, second week, and I am feeling like I am losing my mind. I have half my sex drive back, more acne, and more panic. I am worried I will never find a good balance with any pill. Anyone actually have a good experience with a pill, any recommendations? I wouldn't recommend these two, but everyone reacts differently. Please, any recommendations at all??

I have been on Alesse for about 3 years and I like it hands down compared to some other pills that I have tried. I tried Diane-35 which turned me into a psychocrazy lady who wanted to drop out of school and just cry all day. Then I tried Marvelon which made me gain about 10 pounds in two months. Alesse has not caused me any problems like other drugs. Recently my doctor wanted to switch me to Yasmin...but after reading what other people have said about it I am sticking with Alesse.....it is the lessor of two evils. The truth is that you have to weigh your choices...do you want to have a few minor problems(don't continue if you feel you are going crazy) or would you rather have a baby? When you put it like that...I would rather deal with a little vaginal dryness thank you very much.

Does no one have a great number of side effects form Alesse? My doctor switched me to Yasmin (which I haven't yet started because I had a few packs of Alesse remaining) because I complained about moodiness/crankiness that is so sudden and abrupt that I just know it has to be hormonal).

After researching Yasmin, I see that many people have sooo many complaints about it, yet they are the same complaints that I have with Alesse (which I hadn't realized it was causing until I made the connection with the other BCP). i.e, leg/arm numbness, extremely dry flaky skin, severe mood swings, tiredness, gas, heartburn, sleeplessness, the list goes on and on and if you look under the Yasmin board it will list just about everything I have trouble with on Alesse.

Is everyone REALLY all that happy with Alesse?

I am going to try Yasmin. I am basically only on BCP to regulate my periods (which can be very heavy and very unpredictable) so I will go off of it if I continue to have such horrific symptoms.
