I have been taking this for about 5 months. So far, I don't think have any side effects. ( I don't get sleepy or anything) I sometimes wonder if I am taking too low a dosage - I take the .25 - and although it may take the edge off occasionally, I sometimes don't know if it is doing anything - I am still having anxiety....Now unfortunately, I am starting to have anxiety about having anxiety.
I have too young children and was afraid to take any higher dosage - I can't be drowsy etc., but was just wondering if it is really helping me at all. I haven't tried anything else. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Thanks - Kara

i have been taking alprazolam for many yrs for anxiety, i have gone on several anti depressants zoloft, paxil and celxa. they all gave me awful side effects. axnax has helped me the most. i am getting off of celexa , i feel light headed and shakey i have gained 40 lbs in 4 yrs. paxil was the worse to get off of. i'm 62 and have had a very hard life , i lost a son and a daughter. if i didn't try some of these meds it would have been worse for me. good luck to everyone that has to take these meds. pat

My dr gave these tablets to me against panic attacks (which I did not think I had) told me to take 1 tab 3 times a day. After falling asleep anywhere & every where & driving on the wrong side of the road I gave up on them.

I have been taking alprazolam for about two years and have never had any side effects other than a mild headache, and am not commpletly comvinced it was the medication that caused it!!! I know for a fact it has helped me cope with the terrible effects of cronic pain,...dicouragement (what my doctor calls depression) on one end of the spectrum and discouragement (what my doctor calls anxiety)...One comes from my not being able to do the things i used to do (physically) and the other end of the spectrum, having the tendancy to get upset over that fact...
THANK GOD FOR DOCTORS
AND THE MEDICATIONS
HE REVEALS TO THEM FOR
OUR INFIRMITIES !!!

I have taken this med for 2 years now and have found that it makes me very forgetful. My memory is totally shot. I am weaning off now. I began taking it due to anxiety. Then I took them to just fall asleep easily at night (1 mg) and now I would rather not be forgetful and just use other means to fall asleep and so I am coming off them.
