I took a 10mg tablet every day for thirty days, making no connection between the dizziness and unsteadiness I was experiencing (all day) and the medication. When I finally figured it out three days ago, I stopped. I continue to have some dizziness. Does it take time to get this drug out of your blood stream? If yes, how long?

Thanks for any feedback!

I have been taking Ambien on and off now for about 1 year and at first I started having bad headaches, dizziness, loss of thoughts, dry mouth, etc, but mostly my headaches became very bad until my blood pressure went up and I was put on B/P medication, so I stop taking the Ambien and I really feel like I am just lost and very irritable, and I feel like I am in a dream and I can not stand a lot of noise or any little sound just bothers me, my eyes stay red and burning and what I feel like is a really bad head cold or allergies.

I'm not sure if what I'm experiencing is a side effect of Ambien...or not...but, I've been taking Ambien CR 12.5 mg for a couple of months due to menopausal insomnia...and starting around 3 weeks ago...I have a "wandering numbness"...with a very slight "burning" feeling on my right side...especially my right arm...my right ankle feels slightly swollen and numb also. My husband, who's an M.D., said that it sounds neurological. Could this be from the Ambien????

I am going through menopause and have had a lot of trouble with insomnia. I asked my Dr. for Lunesta and was using that without side effects until my insurance co said they wanted me to try Ambien instead. It put me to sleep faster and I did stay asleep but never woke up feeling rested. My husband said we had conversations I don't remember having. The worst though was the dizziness and feelings of anxiety I experienced the next day. I decided I wanted to stop taking it because of that and experienced a horrible night last night with my head swiming and unable to sleep the entire night. I am going back on Lunesta.

I had been able to sleep without any problems my whole life. I could sleep anywhere. Then about year ago, that changed. I wasn't able to sleep. I wasn't tired and could stay up all night. After about four months of this, I tried ambien. Started off with 10 mg for about four months. Then switched to 5mg. The 5 mg works just as great as the 10mg. I don't have all the side effects that everyone else has, but I do have some. I wake up with a "hangover" feeling. There is also the dizziness and headaches. And the depression is starting to really get to me. And I am really starting to have problems focusing. These side effects seem to increase the longer I take it. I know I am addicted to ambien...........I start to get panicky if I start to think of not taking it. I am going to try and break the ambien into smaller amounts..........I truly believe there is a toxic level with ambien.

Hi. It seems rather obvious that ambien causes dizziness, personality changse- anxiety, anxiousness, memory issues..a sort of brain fog and in many occasions depression. Let's be proactive- this med causes brain dysfunction that may be able to be corrected- the question is how? To start, the seratonin levels, cortisol and adrenalin levels need to return to normal..wean yourself off and never go on again. Who knows about herb. homeopathics that have shown promise on mood amd memory?
