Biaxin and headache

I have many of the same symptoms as everyone else... miserable stomach pain, diarrhea, terrible headache and heartburn. this drug is awful. I've never had this sort of reaction to an antibiotic before. Today is only day 4 and i'm afraid to take the pills. Has anyone heard that the side effects get better as your body gets used to the drugs?? I'm in the middle of taking exams and I was worried about this throat and ear infection interfering with my studying. I think I could have managed the infection better than these drugs.

I've been taking Biaxin XL 500 mg. 2 pills together once a day for a sinus infection. Today would be day 4. The infection is improving but since I've started this drug I've been feeling totally crappy. I've had a headache and haven't been able to sleep at all for 3 nights. I lie there with pressure on my chest. The pharmacist said that is a very potent antibiotic, hard on the body but they said it's best antibiotic - but at what cost? I certainly don't want to feel like this for another 7 days. After reading all these postings I'm definitely calling my doctor to chance medications. Thanks for all the postings.

I have been on Biaxin XL 500 mg - 2 pills taken at the same time once a day. Today would be the 4th dose. I was sure to take the pills on a full stomach. My sinus infection seems a little better but I'm feeling totally lousy. I've had a headache and I haven't been able to sleep at all for the last 3 nights. I lie there with a pressure in my chest. Even after missing only 1 night of sleep I felt horrible and I'm sure it wasn't only from missing the sleep. Biaxin is definitely affecting my whole body. I've been on antibiotics before and never had any kind of reaction like this. I had called the pharmacist and they said that this is a very potent antibiotic, hard on the body but best on the market. True it may clear up an infection but at what cost. After reading all these side effects I'm definitely calling my doctor today and asking for a different medication. Thanks for this website.

Have pneumonia currently and given generic Biaxin for 10 days. I am only on the second day, but I do currently have a headache (rarely ever get headaches normally). Also, this taste in my mouth is awful, but I can tolerate that alright. I do already feel a measurable difference in the infection in my lungs already so that is good. I am not depressed or anything else (yet). I had a nightmare about an oversize centipede on my bedroom wall. I was convinced it was there. I turned the light on, looking for this thing that in reality, was not there at all. My stomach is fine as I take 4 or 5 probiotics every time I have take a Biaxin tablet. I am also on Prednisone.

Headache, nausea, terrible taste in the mouth, constipation and stomach pain. But by far the taste and headache the worst. 500mg tablets two times daily. I feel almost as bad as I did before taking the medicine from all the side effects. My throat infection is gone but I still feel terrible.

Biaxin Side affects were mild for the first four weeks. I've recently experience fast heart rate, headache, pins and needles in feet and hands, tremors in hands and the medicine isn't working on the infection. I will consult my doctor about stopping the use. The first four weeks were actually pleasant. No real side affects. I would take this drug again but only for a short duration.

Yup, all of the above... I have been dizzy, restless at night, nausious, but like you have all said, the worst is the TASTE that is in your mouth all day and night, it tastes like a combination of grass and metal and it gets worse every time I cough (I am taking Biaxin for a very bad lung infection). I wake up in the middle of the night gagging and I have to run to the bathroom to basically drink mouthwash so that it will go away for an hour or so and give me some relief. It is disgusting and if it weren't for the fact that I NEED to get rid of this infection I would definitly stop taking it if only to just get rid of the taste in my mouth.

Stomach discomfort (bloating), indigestion even after taking it with food, Heart racing, irritable, nervousness, headache, Thank god you all have written in. I found myself a little short of breath but come to find out that it is the biaxin. I think the bronchitis by itself would have gone away faster without the biaxin.

I am on 500 mg x 2 and feel very tired.

Cannot sleep, have awful headache and to top it all off my sinus infection is worse than before I started meds.

My upper respiratory infection is better, but I don't get the worsening of my sinus infection

Vomiting, diarrhea, headache, bad taste in mouth, fatigue and dizzy. All of that after taking Biaxin XL for one day..... Hope it gets rid of my Bronchitis.

Only been on for 5 days. Was just checking the web to see if I was going crazy or if all this stuff is "normal". Taking the Biaxin extended release, for pneumonia. I too have experienced:
- Sleeplessness
- Night sweats
- nightmares (I dread bedtime!)
- Horrible metalic taste (which I think is causing me to clench my teeth and giving me a headache)
- some abominal discomfort
- dizziness,
- physically larthargic, but mentally energized; can't seem to shut my brain off

I took it at night the first three times and then switched to mornings to see if I could sleep any better. It didn't help. The symptoms just last 24 hours now. When I took it at night, I didn't notice side effects so much in the day. But then I was so tired from not sleeping - it's hard to tell what's causing what.

I was given 500mg Biaxin. After a few days I felt worse than i did when I was not on the medication. I had a headache, chest pains, problem sleeping, dizziness, nausea. It was for 14 days, I have not finished the dosage yet. Bad taste in my mouth, stomach cramping.

I was given a prescription of Biaxin 500mg to treat a severe respiratory infection. I became quite ill after the second pill. I had vomiting, diarrhea, high fever,a tremendous back pain, lack of sleep and appetite. The worst part is that it also came with a huge headache by the third day, and could not take anything for it or keep anything down, so dehydration became a factor. A call to my Dr. went with the explanation that this happens sometimes. New medication was called in. I don't understand as to why we are given all this new drugs that are so ineffective, are dangerous and more expensive. We are all little guinea pigs. I must note the three years ago I had pneumonia, which this turned out to be, and I felt better within days. Today we are not so lucky. What a shame!
