Just so you all know this, clonidine is used by sleep researchers to destroy REM sleep in lab rats. I gather that for some folks sleep does not become an issue, but I didn't sleep more than two full nights during the entire 9 months or so I took this filth. On average, I only got 2-3 hours, which was devastating. I also had perpetual sinus congestion, the worst I could imagine. And my eyesight was compromised. Everything got better, dramatically, when I was eased off this drug (my eyesight, however, has never returned to the 20/20 I had before, and in fact is pretty mediocre now). However, don't try going off this drug on your own, or fast. You must EASE off it over a period of weeks or more, else you could have a potentially fatal BP rebound into hypertensive crisis.

I took clonidine for only 2 days at 0.1mg's and had to call my boss to come home. I could barely function. I am a nanny and I couldn't even care for the kids. Dry mouth, foggy head, light headed, itchy, felt all in all terrible. I went off of it right away and the symptoms are gone. I will never take this med again

I was diagnosed in April 2006 with congestive heart failure and End Stage renal Failure. Out of the blue! One month before I was diagnosed I began bruising severely, and just not feeling well overall. I have maintained uncontrollable hypertension for about 3-4 years now.

I have been on at least 15-20 different medications, not all at the same time, but in different combination. I have adverse reactions to everyone I have been on in some form or fashion. ie rashes,, sometimes in the form of blisters from my hands up to my elbows, severe deep itching, headache, nausea, vomiting or they simply do not work. The only medication that I have been on for the entire time without stopping, only changing the dosage is Clonidine.

I am very sensitive to a lot of chemical drugs, even the chemical form of folic acid!

I recently had a biopsy done on my kidney. I came back positive to chronic and acute inflammation, causing scarring of the kidney. Therefor causing my kidneys to shut down to about 7% activity. There is still some active inflammation. Could this be from the clonidine? Since it is the only thing that has been a constant for the past 4 years?

It has certainly raised a question in my mind.

I started taking Clonidine( .03mgs 1-2 times a day) about 2 months ago, since then I have not had a full night sleep, I wake up with foot pain when I go to get up, I have extreme dry mouth, and I don't really think Clonidine is doing anything for the hot flashes.

my son is 9yrs. old and was prescribed this same medicine. I haven't given it to him yet . I said I would read up on it first before I gave it to him. I'm scared to give it to him now that I have read up on it. I mean is it safe to take. Why would they prescribe blood pressure meds for anger problems? Will he be o.k ?He plays football and needs all the rest and energy he can get. his dad is pschitzophrenic and he has anger management issues.

Headache, breathlessness, waking up gasping for air at night, fluid retention in abdomen and legs, increased heart rate and NO reduction in BP! Fever, coughing, achiness and flu-like symptoms! Decreased lung capacity.

I have been taking clonidine .3mg for over 4 yrs now. At first the only side effect I would have would be drowsiness. After one year on this medication I have experienced multiple ulcers on my feet and ankles, shortness of breath when trying to reduce the amount of medication taken, and finally the inability for a restful sleep. One more major side effect End Stage Renal Disease or Kidney Failure!!! I have been on dialysis for 3 yrs now

Lately my mouth has started hurting. I have excellent teeth and gums, but it feels as if someone hit me in the mouth overnight and the area of discomfort is never in the same place. No swelling or anything, just a modest pain that goes away as the day progresses.

I have been taken 0.3 mg Clonidine for close to two years. I take it at bed time and I always wake up with difficulty in opening my eyes for the first three to four minutes upon wake up.

I recently discover this when I ran out and was awaiting other prescriptions to become due before re-fill, and I did not take Clonidine for five nights. I did not have difficulty in opening my eyes at wake-up!

Is this consistent with Clonidine?

I just started taking this medication (0.1mg). Starting with the second night I now become fully awake after about 4-hours sleep. It is then difficult to get back to sleep, and sometimes I can not return to restful sleep.
