Compazine side effects

A year ago I was given Compazine for a headache, my life has been a nightmare since. With in minutes of the nurse putting it in my iv I started to shake uncontrollably. They sent me home. That whole night every muscle in my body was in severe spasm, unbearable pain. I could not think straight and was trembling,couldn't sleep,throwing up. I went to the hospital the next morning with all the symptoms and shaking, they said 60% of people will have a bad reaction. I say take it off the market or at least let people no so the can decide if they still want it. Well from that point on my body has never been the same and all my neurotransmitters and hormones are out of balance. I'm still not well and wonder if I ever will be again. I now list this every time I go anywhere and would never recommend it to anyone. I no longer trust any doctor's, they all think I'm crazy and have stress and anxiety. Yes maybe I do but do to what there med. has done to me, I didn't walk into he hospital like this, I walked out with it.

I was prescribed Compazine for nausea and it works like a dream! Nausea GONE. It sounds like the other posts here are citing an allergic reaction to the drug rather than a side effect.

The only side effect I had was drowsiness and I mean big time. About six hours after taking a dose I would have to take a nap because I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Never ever again will I take companzine. I was given it for nausea at night in ER. First my eye began twitching. I went the next day to my family doctor and told him. He gave me more- told me that was normal. Within 2 hours, I had to go to the emergency room. My eyes were rolling into the back of my head and my neck muscles were spasming so badly (I looked like a gopher ducking from planes). They did not even ask to see insurance or sign in. They started shooting me up with benadryl in both hands. Finally the reaction stopped. This is a dangerous drug/

I was given Compazine at the local emergency room for a migraine. Never again. I now put Compazine and Reglan on my list of allergies. After given Compazine iv I immediately began to get anxious and want to rip out my iv and leave. I called the nurse in and told her to take out the iv and that I was leaving. I just could not stand it. I remembered I was given Reglan at one time and had the same reaction. I felt these effects from 7pm to 8pm then next day. I could not sleep and finally I took some Benadryl to help me sleep. I strongly advise anyone to think twice before receiving this med.

Nearly 35 years ago I was given compazine for nausea. I was a young teen and didn't realize what was happening but my head started tilting back and I was unable to bring it back down. My neck muscles were locked. I was rushed to the emergency hospital and finally administered a shot to relax my neck and my medical doctor said he would never prescribe Compazine again.

4 years ago I was prescribed Compazine for nausea. I went to work and then had to leave because I began to feel extremely "high". When I called my mother I began to drool a little and thats when I got worried. When I got home I took a shower and while I was getting dressed I felt worst. I called my brother upstairs and right then and there is when I was unable to open my mouth and my tongue was numb, I had lockjaw. He rushed me to the doctor where I was given a shot of benadryl and was told to go home and take OTC benadryl. I was in a deep sleep for 23 hours when I got home. SCARY!
