I'm 16 and I've been on concerta since I was in 7th grade (I'm now a Junior in High School) As soon as I started the medication All my Grades Went up. you could even see on my Grade Reports that I was getting B's and C's before my Concerta and After I started Taking Concerta I was getting A's and it felt Great. As time went on I started being not hungry all the time, and some times I wouldn't eat for 3 or 4 days in a row. I would also sleep as soon as I got home from school and would get easily annoyed with everyone and anyone. I'd be extremely happy and joking, then suddenly it would shift and if anyone said anything, i'd get extremely annoyed. I also noticed how different my thoughts were, not 'bad' different, but just different. My Doctor said the side effects would go away but its been over five years and they haven't. I'm not going to go off of it because i hate it when I forget to take it one day. So the goods completely over power the bads with Concerta.

My 6 year old daughter Started taking concerta about 3 months ago. Some things I've noticed are, loss of appetite and loss of weight.
She has had very noticeable academic improvement at school. She is concentrating better. At home I l see how she can go through mood swings and emotional episodes. She snaps all of the sudden and cries if things don't go as she expects. I'm not sure why this is happening. She is currently on the 36 mg. I really don't like having her on this or any other medication. It's very frustrating trying to decide what is best for your child.
She is also taking Singulair for her asthma and allergy symptoms. I was reading the reviews on that medication and they are scary! I don't know if her emotional episodes have to do anything with singulair or concerta med side effects. For now I'm definitely taking her off Singulair and see what happens.

My son was changed from Adderall to Concerta. He started having a lot of side effects on 18mg. I told the doctor and he doubled the dose to 36mg. In three days, he went totally out of control. In the following 4 days, we had 3 emergency room visits, two hospitals and two ambulance rides. Now I am facing lots of bills and no help from the doctor. My son's side effects were weight loss, loss of appetite, mervousness, fast heartbeat, unusual sadness, irritability, dilated pupils, hallucinations, twitching, temors, throwing up, yelling at me, nose bleeds, behavior changes, and dizziness. He now is off all ADHA medications. Please read what the side effects are and stop the medication if they show up.

Male 26, Dose 36 mg Concerta daily
This medication has been highly effective in treating my inattentiveness or ADD as I am diagnosed.
I experience slight nervousness while taking the medication - this side effect seems to be worse when I take caffeine.
Thus I try to avoid coffee, etc.
Overall, the medications benefits far outweigh the side effect.

My son is on concerta and has done much better ifocusing in school. I do see mood swings when the concerta wears off and he has been running his fingers through his hair and just told me he is pulling at the hair. Has anyone else experienced the hair issue with this?

We just started my 6 year old son on this medication. Dr. recently up the dose to 36 mg.
I'm really having a hard time with this, not sure if this medication is going to hurt him later on in life. He's been complaining about not feeling good and doesn't know why?

My 10 yr old is taking Concerta and it is the worst thing that i have every seen happen to a child. i am looking into ways to get him off the medication. it is horrible. he is fine during the day but in the evening he is a totally different person. Annoyed and irritated all the time, sad, angry, aggressive, mildly violent. he has melt downs every night and lately they have been lasting for 4 hours. no one is getting sleep and it is very stressful for the family. this drug should be banned....
