On Sept. 2, 2009 I had a cortisone shot in my back for L4, L5, C1 disc problems. The shot was painful but brief and I went out of there with no particular symptoms. It was done in a hospital by a neurologist. On Sept. 4th I woke up and the whole room was spinning. I threw up and this continued for awhile. I could hardly stand and went to the hospital emergency room where I spent the next twelve hours getting all kinds of tests. My blood pressure was 185 over 110. Finally, they told me they could find nothing physically wrong and dismissed me with meclizine for dizziness. This is now Oct.27th and I had these vertigo symptoms for seven weeks! I was sent to an ear specialist and underwent vesicular therapy for benign position vertigo several times a week at a rehabilitation center. I had brain MRI and a neck MRA which showed nothing. Last Saturday I passed out for a few seconds. Every medical specialist insists that the Cortisone shot had nothing to do with all this but I am still undiagnosed. Yesterday (Oct. 26th) the dizziness ended (7 weeks). I don't know if it is gone for good. I cannot believe that it is just a coincidence that all this happened two days after the cortizone shot. Does this strike a bell with any of you?

I have read the posts below and thank goodness I found this site! I got an injection on Wednesday, 6/17, in my right knee and for the first 24 hours it hurt like heck - more stiff and painful than prior to the injection. On Friday I woke up shaky and started to feel anxious. My face and chest flushed a bright red which lasted all day. Saturday was worse; shaky, heart racing or palpitating, head/neck pressure with headache, hot flashes, nausea and stomach cramping/pain. I even actually had a panic attack (already a predisposition for me). I became uncontrollably weepy and depressed! Today, Sunday, I STILL have major anxiety and headache/pressure. I'm convinced the injection brought all of this on because before this, all I had was knee pain. So, WHEN will these icky symptoms start to subside? I was told the cortisone was good for 4-6 months. I can't live feeling like this everyday for that long!!! Any suggestions or encouragement?

Had a cortizone shot in the instep of my foot, which I have had every 7 months or so and been great! This time on June 4th, 2008 had the shot again and walked out and my foot became so swollen and painful...went home and iced it but the swelling did go down some with the ice but then began again when the ice was off. In August, my foot was still somewhat swollen an painful when walking and I also have a torn meniscus in the knee of the same leg as the foot problem. Doctor gave me a shot in the knee but the foot is still swollen and painful...doctor says I have arthritis. Wonder if I need another cortizone shot in the foot?

I had a Cortisone shot on the back of my head, I went to the Neurologist for headaches due to past injuries, I had relief on the left side of my head but on the right side it hurts like someone punched me in back of the head, I have had terrible headaches now everyday, fatigue and nausea ever since the shot, I don't recommend it.

i have arthritis in my right knee. my knee cap was chewing up my knee joint causing a grinding and clicking noise.
i got a cortizone shot and it hurt like crazy for about 10 minutes.
20 hours post shot my heart is racing like i was terrified, my knee is swollen, and i am nautious, but the pain is at a minimum. the doctor told me to take it easy though because i still have arthritis. this just lubricates it. but if i exercise too much it could send me right back to square one.

MY STORY WITH THE CORTIZONE SHOT..........I have had severe pain in my right shoulder, neck, and back for almost a year after pulling/tearing muscles in those areas. I have gone to several specialist, had x-rays, MRI, pain meds, and physical therapy. I am still hurting and the doctors say to take it easy and it will eventually heal.......except my family doctor. (He has been sending me to the specialist). Yesterday he wanted to try and give me a shot of cortizone in my shoulder. Said all my pain may all be coming from my shouler even though it feels like my neck and back....I may have something like tendinitis?? I got the shot and it barely hurt at all. I was amazed! About 1/2 thru it though, I became sick to my stomach and felt like I was going to throw up. They laid me back on the table and I broke out into a sweat, but after about 10 minutes, I was fine except of a weird taste in my mouth. I went home and did feel funny...kinda "off" and a little more tired than usual. I went to bed normally, but woke after 40 minutes and was up the rest of the night. I finally fell asleep at 6 am! I felt tired all day, but my shoulder is GREAT!!!! I can not believe the difference so far! My neck and back are sooo much better too. I can't wait to tell my doc! I have not felt this good in almost a year! I would get the shot again, even if it hurt worse, or my symptoms were worse for a few days like I have read on this site. Best of luck to everyone else in pain....I pray you get relief as I have :)
