i guess no one has fully recovered from the side effects of this drug.
i have lost all hopes because no one has recovered fully. NO ONE on this forum.
i still have this panic and anxiety attack at least once a day and ringing in the ears is constant now. not fully functional like how i used to be. physically.

The weight gain is horrible and the headaches are happening daily. I feel really tired and achy all day and restless during sleep. I have Lyme disease and not sure if these symptoms are from the drug or from the disease itself but I'm pretty sure the weight gain is from water retention caused by the Doxycycline. I hope this will go away after my 21 days is up.

Last month, I went to see a dermatologist as a result of being bitten by bugs while staying in a motel. The doctor looked at the bites and one particular bite on my right arm, which he said was a tick bite. For that bite, the doctor prescribed to me a drug called Doxycycline HYC for Lyme Disease that I had to take for 30 days. Number one, I hate taking drugs and I have never taken any medication for that long a period of time, except for the Centrum multi vitamin I take on a daily basis.
I went back to the doctor's office earlier this month showing him more bites on my back and a rash on my right leg, the latter of which he said was an allergic reaction to the drug prescribed. He said Doxycycline HYC was the drug that is used to treat Lyme Disease and that I had to finish the course.
On Wednesday of last week, I had four pills left when I noticed a slight change in my vision. I took the pills Wednesday and Thursday and was done with them on Thursday to finish the course. By Saturday, my vision was very blurry and I only have one eye. I wear safety glasses to protect that eye with no prescription in the lenses.
On Saturday, I walked over to the pharmacy and the pharmacist printed out a report on that drug and there is an indication – along with many other side effects – citing blurry vision. On Sunday, I spoke with the doctor's colleague, who asked me whether I was also having headaches while taking that drug. I told the colleague I was having headaches but that I was taking Tylenol when the headaches occurred. The colleague not only told me I could have been prescribed another drug (which I was surprised to hear but would it have mattered anyhow because I only had four pills left) but he also said that my vision will get better but it will take time. I really wish I knew in what time frame my vision will come back because the colleague also mentioned that I may have to see a neurologist and I am wondering because of that statement if something happened in my brain during the times I was getting the headaches that could have affected my vision.
Then I was talking to a nurse friend yesterday concerning the blurry vision – which is still blurry since Saturday of last week – and she asked me if I have diabetes. I told her I do not have diabetes but she said blurry vision is associated with diabetes and that I could lose my sight.
I cannot believe all that has happened as a result of taking that Doxycycline HYC. I also went to have an eye exam and the eye doctor scheduled an appointment for October 8 to see me again to see if the vision clears up on its own. He said if it does not, I must now start to wear prescription lenses. But I am really skeptical about waiting that long because every day I wake up, my vision seems to be getting blurrier and blurrier. I am blown away about all of this -- all as a result of taking that drug. And I have to sit very close to the computer screen in order to see to type anything.
Because my nurse friend was talking about diabetes being associated with the blurry vision, I also went searching about that yesterday and found this statement:
"The use of antibiotics can affect blood glucose levels, at times contributing to elevations and in some cases a decrease in blood glucose levels, depending on the antibiotic used, as well as individual response. Antibiotics are also used for the treatment of infections, which often contribute to elevations in blood glucose, in and of themselves. In the case of Lyme disease the relapsing cyclic activity of the Borreila spirochete, may also contribute to times of elevations in blood glucose, due to the increased presence of infectious organisms during periods of such activity. It is important to discuss your blood glucose response to treatment with your Doctor, as improved blood glucose control during times of treatment
for any infectious state, helps the body put up a better fight."
I am stuck in my apartment scared to death and very, very, very depressed about this blurry vision. Moreover, I unable to drive to the locations I need to get to for my job because not only is it hazardous for me to drive on a consistent basis, but my bills are coming due and no way of paying them.

After reading all these posts. I stopped taking this awful medication, if you want to call it this Yesterday morning to be exact. Today I still feel awful. Something has to be done. The slight headaches and sick stomach are still with me and the outburst of the chills. Of course i am so tired I still can't function. And to think all my Doctors certainly know the side effects of such a drug. For 6 weeks I have been sick with the worst headaches ever and now I feel like things are crawling all over my body. I pray i will get my life back. Can't even explain how upset my Husband is with me, thinking all this time, i was complaining for nothing. Whatever. I just hope my eyes will get some relief. Who knows at this point. Well getting so very tired again. I will keep you all posted, for sure.

It seems that everyone is having similar symptoms. I have been on Doxy for about 14 days now and I'm feeling worse every day. I am on it because i had been bitten by a tick and contracted Lyme disease. I don't know much about the disease but it has me freaked out. I started taking the antibiotic 2 weeks after being bitten; losing my balance and almost falling to the ground. I also had a couple of dizzy spells after eating. I seemed to feel a little bit better the first week of taking it but started feeling the side effects. It started out with the occasional dizzy spell then came the exhaustion, anxiety, depression, lower back aches, soreness in the back of my eyes, stiff neck, headache in the back of my head, flu like shivers, racing heart, and complete body aches. I also found out the hard way not to go out into the sun while on Doxy. Felt like the tops of my hands were being pricked with a million needles and burning. I wish I could stop taking the drug and be done, but I am already scared about the outcome of the Lyme disease. I hope I can feel normal again soon.

Depression is not the word ....if this stuff was biblical, it would be the devil.
i have never felt like life didn't matter, i have never felt like i wanted to give up, but over the last few days i have, and i know it is a direct result of doxycycline. I stopped taking yesterday (had for lyme dis).
sever headaches, nausea, chest pain, panic attacks, etc....
NO WONDER THIS IS A FREE PRESCRIPT....they get you on your second visit after your doc prescribes zoloft or something for you.

I want to know if anyone has experienced severe joint pain while on Doxy. I was prescribed this med on a Monday. I (like an idiot) doubled up on my first dose Monday evening because I know you can do that with other antibiotics to jump start the process. What can I say? I don't like being sick. Well....Tuesday morning, I took my 2nd dose and went to work. Very soon after taking the second dose, I broke out into a very itchy rash all over my back that soon spread to other parts of my body. I called my doctor and was immediately taken off the Doxy and prescribed Augmentin. Later that night, I began aching all over. I woke up in severe pain throughout all of my joints, and was in a terrible mood.....obviously. As the day progressed, the pain continued, but seemed to be moving randomly about my joints. My ankles would hurt for a while, then my arms, the my shoulders, etc. That night, I took a Benadryl (still itching from the rash a little), some ibuprofen, and went to bed. I woke up feeling a lot better. A lot less pain in most of my joints. It was a good day. However, today, Friday, I am still in some pretty bad pain in my hands. Anyone else have a similar experience??????

Hi there everyone. I started taking Doxy 8 days ago, and my side effects with it are......dizziness, headaches, anxiety, panic attacks, stomach upset really bad, I have to eat something before I take it. Really bad and scary feelings flash over me, eyes get blurry at times. Filling really tired, and exhausted. Prickly feelings in my hands, and sometimes in my arms. I don't want to take this anymore, I have called my doctor but no respond yet from them. She gave me 10 more days worth to take, I got a tick bite 15 days ago and this is why they gave it to me, they wanted to cover me for lyme disease or any other disease that I might get with tick bites. Thanks for reading. Take care

Hello, my son was on Doxycycline to treat his acne. What a horrible
medication. It damages everything in a teenager. I do not understand,
that a doctor is allowed to just give it away and do not even make further
test later again, at least some bloodwork!
My son has major problems with his stomach, blood in his stool and
headaches . He was checked for plenty of other things, until I found this
website. Thank you !!! Somebody needs to stop this company by making a profit from these horrible pills. This cannot continue this way!
Does anybody know, when the pain stops? He is not on this pill anymore since 2 months and his symptoms are still there. I will contact the company as well in this matter, but they may not even know.

DOXY SUX BIGTIME. If you want to feel like you have an ax in your forehead and knives in your torso, chow it down. Not just the stomach either, SHARP PAINS in the whole organ area. Also, extreme LETHARGY, if I took on an empty stomach I'd THROW UP, numbness in extremities. Took it so I wouldn't get malaria. The drug company must have an overstock of this & they prescribe it for everything! In other countries you get other drugs for malaria. WTH? Intracranial hypertension?! How scary is that? Of course I read about that after I got the head splitting HEADACHES FROM HELL. I hope it isn't permanent because I still get the headaches & have stopped the devil's drug for 14 days now. You take it 28 days after exposure to mosquitoes has stopped - and every single day you of your trip. Someone is making a ton of ca$h off this poison & they will pay in the next life with the worst karma ever. I thought I was having an aneurysm. (seriously). It was obviously pulled off some countries shelves, renamed, & sold here. DO NOT USE. Going to research intra cranial hypertension now & see if it is permanent.

They feel like they are on fire also. I had her stop the meds immediately and am waiting for the dermatologist to call back. I thought i was going nuts in a matter of days. i figured i was just stressed out from work and how my lifestyles changed throughout this new year, but i'm only 18 life shouldn't be this way. I Started taking Doxy on March 4th for my acne, and for the first week i was fine, no side affects except for the feeling like there was something in my throat. but then as I continued into the second week, i would wake up fatigued and dehydrated; which stayed with me throughout the day. I started getting neck aches and in the lower back, all on top of a migraine that would come and go. All day i'd feel dizzy, fatigued, tired, disoriented, and thoughts that i'll never be healthy and i'd always feel this way would constantly go through my mind. I even went to my family physician because I thought had a pinched nerve in my neck which was giving me all this pain in my neck and the headaches. my doctor confirmed that i didn't have a pinched nerve so i continued to tell myself that im alright.... right? no news is good news.....right? It wasn't until today(march 17th) that i considered doxycycline hyclate to be a possible culprit. I realized something was very wrong when i couldn't even tell my dad what i was experiencing w/o getting emotional... for NO REASON!!!!! my dad looked up this "Doxy" and we stumbled across this helpful site filled with blogs about people taking the exact same medication with the exact same side affects. As much as i'd love to have a clear face, it's not worth messing up your mind. i took my morning dose today, but will not continue to take anymore of this "Doxycycling Hyclate" hopefully, with time, my mindset will return back to it's normal functioning. just THINK POSITIVE!!!!!!!

I finished with a 10 day dose of doxycycline 3 days ago. At about the 7th day, I started having nausea, loss of appetite, headache, sore and dry throat, sensation of burning on my skin (especially my arms), severe muscle pain in my upper back shoulders and neck. After I finished with my 10 day dose, the nausea and loss of appetite mostly went away, but I am still having headaches, sore throat, muscle pain and the sensation of burning on my skin. Does anyone know how long these side effects will last?

Thank God for you all that posted! :) I don't feel all alone. I'm usually a healthy, strong guy that rarely complains. I've been on a 100mg 2x a day dose of doxy. The first week was ok. just minor stomach nausea. Then i noticed chest tightness, mood changes ( and on the norm im a really passive guy, in a good mood) dizziness, very scary panic attacks(mind racing with negative thoughts), headaches.. Its my 2nd day off of it. Still feeling nausea.. sharp abdomen pains, in and out of depression. I truly hope this thing goes away asap. Never again will i take this med. Very scary times.

I took doxycycline for a little acne on my back I would get when I worked out.
I am a fit healthy man of 48 years. People tell me I look late twenties early thirties. I have to tell you all my experience with this antibiotic has been a nightmare for me.
Stomach queasiness, severe stomach pain, dizziness, headaches, lower back pain, from no acne on face to small blisters and acne. Depression and panic attacks.
I went to my doctor and demanded my blood get checked for everything
from STD's to HIV. Everything came back negative and no answers other than I had a severe allergic reaction to the medication.
I took this medication for a month twice a day. I have been off for two months now and I am just now feeling better I can eat without feeling stomach queasiness. My face is getting better but still hoping it will return to normal.
I started taking Primadophlius and Ester-c to help build my immune system.
I haven't exercise yet because I am afraid to weaken my body. This drug really scared me. I sincerely hope all of you get better:-)

Well, ive been off the doxy for about 5 days now, and im still experiencing the side effects, noticeably, the depression...and weakness....and still don't have a strong appetite. From what im reading, it will take several weeks for these symptoms to go away....I told my doctor about the side effects, and he did not at all seem concerned or surprised, except to say that he would not put me on doxy anymore....i will never take this drug again....thank heavens for this site, because I at least I know what all this is caused by. Just a quick recap of all the side effects I have suffered....Ringing in the ears, loss of appetite, major gas, weight loss, depression, headaches, lethargy, loose stool, chest pains, back pains, and burning eyes.

I will never take this medication again! I read all the side effects on the pharmacy print-out and didn't see any of the same effects I have been experiencing.
I am hypothyroid and I also take medication for depression so I thought perhaps my meds were not intermingling nicely together. It was a relief to see that I wasn't alone.
I began to panic this weekend, knowing that Thanksgiving is this Wednesday, wondering HOW the heck I was going to muster the energy to pull it off. Plus the mere thought of food makes me more nauseous than I already am.
I just called my doctor because I noticed the pills said '1 refill' on them. Thank God he told me I didn't need to refill them. I promptly told him I wouldn't have anyway, and why I wouldn't. He didn't seemed surprised. I just wish he had let me know this could happen.
2 weeks ago I was happy and full of energy...today, I'm at work wondering how the heck I got here...and how am I going to explain to my husband that, once again, I am going to bed as soon as I get home.
Oh yeah....I almost forgot the headaches . The headaches are doozies...the kind that make you grab on to your head and wait for the pain to subside. I seriously began thinking I may have tumors . This medication is awful... and it makes you feel like a hypochondriac because there are no warnings and the effects don't make any sense at the time.
Thanks to all who posted here!!! You saved me from myself. At least I now know this too shall pass. :)

Been on a 7 day 100mg course for sinus infection. Ive felt dizziness, headaches, nausea, tingling in my arms and legs, heartburn, stomach cramps and my throat and glands swollen up. Also Ive been left with no energy and sleeping for 12 hours a night. As soon as I got in from work I was going straght to bed! Couldn't even be bothered getting a shower. Which is very unlike me as Im very active normally. My course finished 2 days ago and my heartburn remains as well as the headaches. And my sinus problem has not gone. This was not worth it! Taking Doxycycline hyclate for bacterial infection. I am on day 6 and the headaches are getting worse. I woke up last night at 1 AM and felt Nausea and a severe headache. I have to take this with a small meal or I will be in the bathroom until my next dose. I have diarrhea, headaches, DEPRESSION, no patience with my kids or wife, no sexual feelings, tingling lips that are starting to crack in the corners, dry mouth and no energy to do anything. I feel better on it, then I did without taking it, but If this does not take care of the so called bacterial infection, then I will be asking for a different MED next time. This stuff is very tough on you and if you can get something with less side effects, GET IT!

Am on my second 3-week course of doxycycline for Lyme disease since the first go round didn't eradicate the infection. Have all the classic side effects mentioned, however the stomach ailments are GREATLY alleviated by taking a strong (70 billion parts per capsule) probiotic. Take it half way between the 2 doxycycline doses and although it isn't magic it does make a difference.
Although I have no appetite, I try to graze lightly on foods that appeal to me throughout the day and that seems to help with many of the horrific side effects.
Also, my MD suggested I take Aleve and NOT Ibuprofen for headaches since the Ibuprofen can cause a "headache" kickback (and causes stomach pain). Don't know if that's true, but the Aleve seems to help a little.
Worst side effects for me are utter exhaustion, dizziness, stomach pain, sore throat, and a head that hurts feels like it is filled with wet cotton. Also heart palpitations which may be part of the Lyme disease.
Hope some of this helps.

I'm taking Doxycycline 100mg 5x/day. Started a little over 2 weeks ago for Chronic Lyme. I have a 4 month course to complete.
In the past 14 years after that tick got me I was the living dead, those with Chronic Lyme know what I mean. I have virtually the same side effects as everyone else here and wonder if it even matters how much you take a day. A lot of you have the same doses (100mg 2x/day) and the same degree of side effects as I do. My side effects are headaches or a pain in my right temple whenever I cough, severe itching EVERYWHERE, blisters on my hands from itching, burns on my skin wherever the sun shines on me (I live in Florida), vomiting daily some days worse than others, mood swings, crying for nothing, nausea almost constantly, gassy (both ends), I have a bladder infection that started 2 days ago that after reading this can be attributed to the Doxy, asthma symptoms are getting out of hand, I also have this odd swelling/pain over my liver/gall bladder area that's been coming and going, ears ring, noise bothers me and actually starts a headache, diarrhea the first week and constipation the second week, skin feels tight and there's noticeable swelling all over.
With that said I want to say that yes this is not one of the more pleasant drugs to be on however in my case if I don't get these bugs out of me I am going to die so would rather deal with side effects knowing these bugs are being killed and I will be off them someday unlike the Lyme I will have for eternity. Lyme people and other chronically ill people on these meds say this is called "herxing" and this comes and goes also. You feel really bad and then you feel good, then bad and then good again and so on. I started out on this drug keeping in mind that any sikness/side effect was telling me those bugs are dying so in a sense I almost welcome them.
Good luck everyone:)

I am 19 year old male and was diagnosed with Epididymitis a couple of weeks ago. Prescribed 100mg Doxycycline HYC TB--taken twice daily for 10 days. Aside from the nausea and headaches, I have recently realized a tingling in my right calf. It has probably been feeling this way for about a week now. It feels numb and while there is no actual pain, it is quite uncomfortable
In addition, I recently developed a lump right under my right nipple. It's probably about an inch in diameter and feels as if it's a cyst.
Plus, Im not convinced my Epididymitis has totally gone away. There is still some very minor discomfort in that area.
Any similar side effects?

After 3 days of doxy I had chest and back pain...2 days later extreme headaches on right side of head. My husband told me he thought it was the doxy, but at first I thought it had to do with the medical procedure I had. I went to the emergency room(i thought i was having a clot or something) and they just said it was a combination of everything I had been thru. I now don't believe that. I have had a lot of problems with headaches before, but when I get a severe headache is usually when I wake up tired. I have woken up completely rested and still severe headache. Doctor thought it also could be rebound from benadryl which i don't believe. I also have had some itching here and there(thought i was allergic to a new soap). I have been off the med for a week and still having a problem with this weird headache. When is it going to stop????

I was prescribed doxycycline for bronchitis/pneumonia and an ear infection. I've been taking 100mg twice a day for four days now. The heartburn started last night, and though I've had mild cases before, this is unbearable. I cough and feel like I'm going to throw up. I drink water, I feel like I'm going to gag. I can stand, I can sit, I can lay down, doesn't matter... feels like I have a rock lodged at the back of my throat and my throat feels scratchy all the way to my sternum. The headaches come and go all day and I feel like I'm in a constant fog. I was told it was not an allergic reaction, but it is a "normal" reaction. I won't take this med again. It isn't worth it.

I took one capsule of this medication at 2:00pm on 12/12/07 and about twenty minutes after taking this medication I began to feel nauseous, than I went and ate something about one hour later just a piece of toast. About ten minutes of eating I began to throw up and started having a headache, so I just kept going not really thinking about it, because the side effect do say headache may occur so I continue my day, about 1 hour and 30 minutes after regurgitating my head was hurting so severely that my eyes was watering and pulse could be heard through my ears, like a drum beating. I then became dizzy and things seemed to get blurred so I laid down and about 10 minutes in laying down my mouth began to fill with thick mucus almost like cotton in my mouth, began to be extremely thirsty so I got up and got water, to throw it back up. I then began to feel my jaw tightening up feeling like I was getting lock jaw. I then called my doctor office and talked to a triage nurse who then called a doctor and called me back and told me not to take any more of the medication and to take 50mg of Beneadryl because of a allergic reaction to the medication, but I am also allergic to PCN and ASA so she said it is rare for people to have an allergic reaction to this medication. Now my symptoms was not over that night I could not sleep, I also had bad dreams, severe night sweats, and nauseous that morning. I started having lower abdominal cramps, and still having problems sleeping, and sometimes I feel like crying and for no reason. Today is 12/20/07 and I still am having severe abdominal cramps, still nauseous in the mornings, no headaches or cotton mouth but the stomach cramps have not yet left and I only took one capsule, today makes a week, tomorrow is my doctor apt. hopefully I can get something to help me out but this is my story about this mess up drug.

My son took this medication for a month, about a month later he started with the headaches. He can not concentrate, he feels like he is in a fog and wore out all the time. It messes with his vision. He has been having these symptoms for about a month and a half with trips to the emergency room and numerous Drs. He never had any problems till this medication. He is missing work. What we need to know from anyone - how long do the symptoms last.
Please respond if you have had the same --headaches and vision problems.

I'm a 54 year old female. I was given Doxycycline to help treat what may be Interstitial Cystitis - bladder inflamation of unknown origin. Within 20 minutes of taking, I felt like it crossed the blood-brain barrier. I would get a weird dizzy/nausea sensation. I only took it for 10 days and I was so glad to be done as I hated how I felt while on it. What I'm worried about now and this is why I wound up on this site, is that it feels like it is still in my system a week after finishing it. After every meal, my stomach hurts. I've been having headaches --which I don't typically have. I'm having trouble concentrating and focusing on work that I have to do and feeling suddenly sleepy for no good reason. I struggled for years with depression, but have felt relatively good for the last 10 years--I never took any depression meds. Since taking this drug, I have sensations of sadness and hopelessness like I haven't felt in years. I'm worried about the time it's taking for this drug to leave my system and whether it's done some kind of permanent damage.

I recently had gum surgery and was prescribed dox. I am only taking 100 mg/day, but I've had extreme lethargy, headaches, itching, swollen lips, nausea and bouts of confusion and dizziness. I feel very sad on this medication and I'm usually a very happy person. I'm stopping the meds today, so hopefully I will be back to my normal self within the next week. I wish I had researched the drug sooner so that I could have stopped taking it earlier...I thought my reactions were due to the pain meds, but I was mistaken!!!

I started taking doxycycline for a simple cold and cough. by the 3 day of taking the medicine, I was feeling extremely dizzy, with headaches, had heartburn, small lumps under the skin around my eyes and over the bridge of my nose. Also tiny bumps that are painful on my tongue. I had nasuea, and stomach ache so bad I quit taking the meds after 5 days. The day after I quit taking them, my stomach is much better and no more heartburn. But still have the lumps under my skin around my eyes and nose and on my tongue.

I was taking doxycycline for about a month and one night experienced really bad indegestion (or thats what it felt like). After that it got worse. It casued me to have such bad acid reflux that it had begun to destroy my esophogus. I couldn't eat anything with any type of acid or texture and finally had to go to the doctor and get on medication. Now I am having to have an upper GI done to look for ulcers that were created, and I still am not able to eat reguarly.

I took 100mg of Doxycycline twice daily for suspected Epididymitis. The first few days I followed the instuctions and didn't notice any side effects. One night though I woke up with incredibly painful heartburn. I think I may have taken the pill without enough water right before bed. After that I continued to take the pills and the side effects started to become worse. I had headaches, dizziness, loss of appeitite, and painful heartburn. My advice to anyone taking this medicine would be to follow the instructions and not take the pill right before sleeping. It has been two days since I stopped taking Doxycycline and the side effects still have not subsided.

I took doxycycline twice a day about 2 1/2 weeks ago for 7 days for an STD it turns out I didn't have(mixed up test results). I had horrible nausea and headaches every day. I had no appetite until late at night. My legs were really itchy too. Now my period is late for the first time in 3 years!! I know I'm not pregnant because I havn't had sex since my last period and I think it has to be because of this medicine.

I been on Doxycycline for three days now for cervitis and I have loss of appetite, headaches, muscle pains, and dry mouth. I really thought, and still think sometimes, that I have something more serious because these symptoms could go with anything else. This website actually has done wonders for me these last couple of days..

I have experienced negative side effects from doxycycline. I have had chest pains, headaches, and nausea. It is perscribed for a sinus infection but I think I would rather deal with the pain of sinus pressure than the side effects.

I was perscribed this medication for a bacterial infection. I have only been on doxycycline for 3 days (1 dose of 100 mg in the AM and another in the PM) and each morning with or without food I am nausiated until late afternoon. I have also experienced a loss of appetite, headaches, acid reflux, and severe hot flashes. The doc says to keep taking as perscribed unless my side effects get much worse. I can't wait until I am normal again!

i was put on it for 3rd stage lymes's disease. The doctors dont even know if I have 3rd stage lyme's disease but they're "assuming" because of all of my symptoms. I have never done well with medications and yet again this one didnt work well. Ive been on it for 2 weeks now out of 4 and I have been very sick to my stomach, headaches, my vision has changed, i bruise easier. I also have had horrible stomach problems, cramping and I have not been able to have a bowl movement for 2 weeks. I also have been sleeping up to 17-20 hours a day missing classes and work. I can barely function I'm more like a zombie. And all my doctor back home said (i'm in college) was that "these are side effects it will happen." However the doctor up here took me off it immediately. I need this med to take my pain away w/the "lymes disease" however these side effects are incredibly painful and causing a problem in my daily life. Not a good medication i feel

My son was prescribed doxycycline, 100mg, 1xday for acne. Within 3 days he began to have severe nausea and vomiting. The only change in his life has been this medication. We even saw a specialist and they never asked us about medication he was on. They just tested him for acid reflux-inconclusive results. He has also had headaches, blurry vision, itching, and chest pain.

am taking 100 dox 2x daily for 2 weeks after being bitten by a tick. wasn't concerned when they told me to start this medicine, didn't expect much in the way of side effects. i will also add that take thyroid meds and they were adjusted downward 3 weeks ago.
i am also being menopause. The first things i noticed were the hot and cold sweats. bone chilling deep inside you cold. menpause? Then the ringing in the ears. Waking up hungry in the middle of the night after the anorexic effect of the medicine wore off. blurred vision ans swollen face. not enough to tell the doctor, but around my eyes especially.
A couple of nights panic attacks and sleeping but not really knowing it. Next came the waking up dizzy with the bad headaches and or having neausa and stomache aches after taking it.
irritability on occasions as well as chest pains. was surprised at my low level of tolerance to noise. i'm stopping this today even though have just one day left.

took over a month for mild acne until i started getting headaches and cloudiness in my head ( i felt out there) the headache i would get was this pain in the left side above my ear.. so i stopped taking the doxy-whatever.. for a few wks now i still have this pain, especially when i touched the spot, it just feels really tender. i had a headache yesterday, it felt like it was my sinuses.. well stupid me decided to try the medicine out again today and a few hrs later what happens?.. i started to feel light-headed.. i called the doctor he told me to stop using it and i am seeing him on tues.. he also told me that the medicine shouldnt be giving these side effects.. so to tell you the truth everyone acts differently to medicines..
i am soo done with this medicine!! especially after reading everyone's comments.. im going to look into accutane which i heard works really well. hopefully i wont have any more problems!
