Dynacin side effects

I was on Dynacin for approximately 6 months when I started having severe joint pain. No doctor could figure out why. I was on medicines for rheumatoid arthritis with no effect. It got so bad that I could barely walk and could not even dress myself. Finally, about 4 months into my arthritis treatment, a resident in the emergency room where I was taken because my pain was so bad suggested that it may be an allergic reaction to the Dynacin. I discontinued use and 6 years later have had no more joint pain. I feel as though I should let anyone know about this possibility since it is not generally listed with the possible (even rare) side effects

I've been taking it for about 7 or 8 months and haven't seen much change, I'm 17 years old. I also to what they call a "skin peal" once every 2 weeks. that seems to be helping. I feel it's emotional, emotions cause acne. from the book I was reading it says that acne comes from feeling guilt and depression as well as the feeling of not being heard or listened to.

it made me start my menustration period 2 weeks before. i have severe stomach pains. i would sleep all day, and i didn't eat and lost alot of weight.

I have an allegric reaction to Dynacin. I was only on it for 5 days. I felt terrible. My eyes went glassy and my head tingled and I started to breakout in a rash. My ears, lips and eyelids swelled. I went to he ER and the gave me an IV for about two hours. I was able to breath ok, that was my biggest concern. I am not allgeric to much or anything serevely, so this was a scary experience.

My son started taking Minocycline HCL 100MG in January and when we went on vacation the end of March, he was acting strange - imagining things, paranoid, etc. He is also on Depakote ER 500MG (1/day) - which we have been trying to get off - since he hasn't had a seizure since 2001. In April, he had a normal EEG, so he went off the Depakote and within a few days he couldn't write, concentrate or anything. I suspected the Depakote (even though this was an extremely low dosage - for 200lb. person), so we went for another visit and they did another EEG that was normal. We put him back on the low dosage - and he improved within a few days....but he still didn't seem back to normal. So I took him off of the Minocycline and I haven't noticed any of the weird behavior anymore. Has anyone else had this issue? We are going to try to go off of Depakote in July after another EEG... would like to know what caused that other weird behavior.

Been taking minocycline (generic for Dynacin) for about 6 mos. Several months ago I noticed a purple-ish rash about 2 inches in diameter on my back. I had a biopsy and it was determined to be an allergic reaction to something. I believe it was from the minocyline. Also, it makes me dizzy & numbs my tongue. Besides these, it cleared my adult acne.

This is day number 6 on Dynacin and am considering discontinuing medication because of nausea and lower abdominal pain with diarrhea.

My 17 year old daughter has been taking Dynacin for almost a year now. While it has done an incredible job of clearing up her acne (from severe to almost non-existant), she has gained weight (particularly around the waist) and feels the Dynacin may be the cause. She seems to have a bigger appetite. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have been taking this medication for two months and I have gained 10 pounds . Has anyone else noticed weight gain?

I've been taking Dynacin/Minocycline for about 9 months and have recently started experiencing nausea/diarrhea every day. Too bad...cause the antibiotic was really clearing up my skin.

About a year ago I was prescribed Dynacin or Minocycline for my acne. After a couple of months I noticed that I felt depressed, moody, and I started to break out in hives or rashes (not certain if drug caused). On top of that the medication did nothing for my acne! Save your money and stick to cleansing and treating acne with anything but oral antibiotics. Try these products: Cetaphil soap bar for cleansing, differin gel at night, and benzaclin or something with benzyl peroxide not more then 5% in the morning. Hope this helps!

The first night I took it, I felt dizzy, nauseated, feverish, chilled, and achy all night long and couldn't sleep. When I called the doctor the next morning, the nurse said that fevers and aches aren't side effects, and that I should rest a couple days and try it again. I did yesterday, a week and a half later--took it at 3:30 and by 8:30, I had an over 100-degree temperature and was feeling achy and chilled all over again. I was awake until 1 a.m., and my fever had risen to 101.8. Gone by morning. Certainly not a coincidence with a flu bug as the nurse had suggested earlier.

Can really change the voice tone and/or restrict vocal ability. Singers should stay clear of Dynacin.

My side effect has to do with my teeth. They are becoming discolored. Dynacin is the only thing that I am taking and I strongly feel that the medicine is what is causing this problem.

I find that my 17 year old daughter is depressed lately. Could the medicine have that effect on her?
