Elmiron side effects

I'm 25 and diagnosed with IC when I was 23. I'm taking elmiron 100mg/3 times daily. I have to down ibuprofen quite often for side effects from IC. It doesn't seem to go away. I'm taking amitriptyline(using for muscle relaxer) 25mg/twice daily for spasms. That seems to help quite a bit but just for spasms. My doc told me I was having issues because the acid(from food or drinks) in the bladder was bringing the IC back. So, I started taking Prelief which is suppose to remove the acid from whatever eating or drinking. But, unfortunately it seems to work with everyone else but me. So, I'm completely lost and my doctors don't seem to think I have enough issues to worry about. I've tried going to other doctors and they either don't deal w/ IC at all or they still aren't accepting new patients. Or my doctor wants me to keep coming in twice a month to give more money when absolutely nothing has changed. What to do?

I experience very tired ! Weakness terrible headaches and like I could thorw up all the time ! I am misserable ! I hope this stops I am going to giove it another month then I dont know what to do ? Any suggestions?

I don't have any yet, but doctor said my hair might fall out.
I just want to know what the imformation on elmiron, since
I'm taking it for ic. The pains still there. Just out of the blue.

I have been taking Elmiron for just over a month. I was told to 100mg 3 times a day at 8 hour intervals on an empty stomach. Nearly impossible, but am taking it 3 times at 6 - 7 hour intervals. Have just started experiencing black bowel movements and a feeling of acid indigestion. I too am concerned about taking this for the rest of my life - I'm 50 and don't like having to take ANY medication...but, this beats the awful symptoms of IC.
I suffer migraines, but no problems in that department yet with the Elmiron. Would like to not worry about having to take it on an empty stomach.

I recently was diagnosed with IC 11/04 after getting a second opinion from another urologist. Thank god for my gut feeling.
I am now taking Elmiron (400 mg.) a day. once in the am and once after supper.
I must take it with a full stomach and lg. class of water. I experienced HEADACHES, alittle upset stomach. But I am worried about hair loss.
I found that the Elmiron has definitely treated my IC and my symptons almost vanished!! I don't have the pressure, pulling sensation, the urgency (remember???). I do still have a mild cystelole (sp.) but am seeing dr. regarding that.
I see my dr. in March for the first follow up. My prescription is for a year. I guess with diet and this Elmiron I should be better. I worry about medicine for the rest of my life. Any thoughts.

Vertigo experienced after five hours of taking 200 mg. of Elmiron. I started it on a Friday p.m. w/200mg total followed by two doses on the Sat. Experienced the vertigo after the 3rd dose.
