Femara side effects

I HAVE BEEN ON FEMARA FOR 1 YEAR, MY HOT FLASHES HAVE INCREASED A LOT AND MY HAIR SEEMS TO BE FALLING OUT IN HAND FULLS WHAT CAN I DO?

I have been on Femara for nearly 7 months now and my BP is slowly rising to horrible number,i was recently put on Coreg two times a day and so far it is still high and i have been on it a week,is this normal,or does it take BP meds awhile to begin working,i also have joint pain and chills sometimes...anyone else? Sharon

I am a 46 yr. old woman diagnosed with breast cancer last April 2008. I had left mast. a month after and then had chemo on June till Sept. My last PET scan was inconclusive so my oncologist put me on femara. I have been taking it for 5 mos. now. I experienced slight pain in my right arm early December of 08 and told my onco that it might be the femara causing it. He dismissed that and said that I have arthritis. Now the pain is also in my other arm which extends to both shoulders. I have problems with my range of motion in both arms now and is thinking of just quitting Femara. I have also pain in my inner thigh muscles and have spasms cause by sudden movements. Occasional insomnia and frequent hot flashes are other side effects I have to suffer. I don't know if it is worth continuing with the little percentage of advantage in the long run and at present live with a diminished quality of life.

I was a healthy, athletic 24 yr. old woman before I took Femara. I also took this with add-back therapy and calcium supplements. This, however, did not prevent the damage done. Now I suffer with crippling bone and joint pain. Even my jaw and teeth hurt! I wish I never took Femara. I made a mistake, and now I'm paying for it. Please do your research before you take any medication.

I have been on Femara for 2 1/2 years. Have been troubled with vaginal dryness and urinary tract infections. Does any one else have these problems?

Go to ****** and type in Femara, then hit issues & opinions. It'll scare the pants off you!! I am totally disabled, due to this drug. They need to be sued and take responsibility for their actions.l

I have had a noticable increase of dryness of my skin and vaginal dryness to the point of pain during intercourse. I also seem to run a little hotter, feeling the heat greatly. I am small, so that is not the reason the heat is getting to me.

My muscles also ache and I am now taking Taurine (from the health food store) and that seems to be helping. My blood pressure also seems to be going up. No hair loss, no weight gain. Guess there is something good here.

Question for All: I Worry that my cardiovascular system may be affected by this continued blockage of estrogen in my body. The heart is a muscle, therefore how do the muscle aches, my increased blood pressure and the health of my heart implicate femara and is it doing more harm to my body than the femara is helping me stop any cancer. I Was on Tamoxifen for almost 5 years. Now have been on Femara since Mar. 06

nausea plus stomach pain/gastritis & tirdness

I have had significant hair loss since beginning Femara last April -- probably at least a third of my hair on the top of my head. Also, other body hair has diminished dramatically. It thinned somewhat with five years of Tamoxifen, but that ended three years ago, so that is no longer the problem. I understand from my search that 5 percent of Femara users have the bad luck to have this side effect. The question I have now, since I stopped using it, is the hair loss reversible??

gastric reflux reoccured (had been well controlled by Prevacid)

I was taking Tamoxifin for a little over a year and had a significant loss of hair and other uncomfortable side affects. My Dr. has now perscribed Femara.
Ques: Does or will Femara cause Osteo-Porosis (Loss of Bone) ?? What other side affects may I expect from Femara?
