I just started taking FEMCON a month ago and I stopped this morning! I am an active 27 year old who runs at least 15 miles a week with a small appetite. Since taking this pill I find it hard to make it through a run and I am eating constantly!! Nothing satisfies my cravings! Also, since taking this pill I wake up at night with calf cramping. I started taking the pill due to breakthrough bleeding, which has still continued. I tried to give the pill the benefit of the doubt and understand that within the first month weight gain and fatigue might be normal, however I feel HORRIBLE! I am changing my pill along with my doctor, who rather prescribe different pills than solve whatever real problem there is. I recommend Loestrin or zovia to anyone who is considering the pill.
Thank you ladies for all your comments!

The first few days were terrible for me, constant headaches and crazy mood swings. I'm on day 14 and things are starting to get better, except for the fact that i started bleeding yesterday (not spotting, period bleeding). My appetite is back to normal and my mood swings have calmed down quite a bit so I'm not as crazy (according to my boyfriend), but I do still have moments where I KNOW I overreact. I'm going to stick with Femcon and see how my body adjusts to it over time, hopefully the breakthrough bleeding will subside and I'll get back on track with my normal cycle. I'd say keep with it unless you're having unbearable side effects. Good luck to all of you! =)

Anyone have room for my wife. I have had enough. She is sometimes pleasant but most of the time a real bitch. She has not connected the dots between the Femcon and her horrible mood swings. Sex was scarce enough but now I have almost forgotten why I liked it so much. PLEASE HELP! If she stopped today how long until I get her back?
(fyi: I am signed in under my wife's account. She will be so proud of me. I hope I survive! Pray for me please.)

I found this website today and couldn't believe my eyes. Over the last month my daughter has been hospitalized twice, seen her OB, a gasterointerologist, had a CAT scan, vagina ultrasound, full blood work up and colonoscopy. No one found anything wrong with her. I never thought anything about the new pill she had been put on last month to better regulate her cycles. She has had severe abdominal cramping, breakthrough bleeding which we were told was normal till she got used to the new pill, nausea but still feels hungry, migraines, dizziness, blurred vision, 20 pound weight gain, acne which she never had before, red bumps which we thought was an allergic reaction to something and extreme fatigue. She had been feeling a bit better the last two weeks and we figured maybe she had had a bout of the flu. I dropped her off at college last Saturday and crossed my fingers. She called me today to tell me that it was starting again. I asked about her cycle thinking it might be PMS and she said that she had just started a new pack of pills. I did some searching and here was this website. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I immediately called the college infirmary and told her to stop taking Femcom immediately. I have forwarded this website to her so she can see that she wasn't crazy after all which was what all those doctors were starting to tell her. I wouldn't wish what my daughter went through this past month on anyone. DO NOT TAKE THIS DRUG!!!!!

This pill is dumb! I would rather be pregnant than bleed 24/7. I have taken the pill for three weeks and stopped a few days ago. I am still bleeding and its heavy. I normally have a period every three months but since this pill, its been once a week. I will never recommend this pill to anyone.

I have 3 white pills left and can't wait to switch brands! Since beginning, I have had non-stop headaches, breakthrough bleeding, and severe mood swings. Mood swings really doesn't describe it though. More like adult angry temper tantrums. This has never happened before. My poor husband actually packed an overnight bag before I broke down and cried for hours on end last night and apologized for my recent erratic behavior. I have had severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I can't believe what a difference each pill has on someone! I would recommend never taking this one!!

Since starting Femcon 3 months ago, I have experienced many of the same symptoms as the rest of you...I just wasn't (and still not) sure if it was the pill or if something else was going on. I was put on the pill because I have a bad time with breakthrough bleeding and I have to say that it has helped tremendously with that problem...but at what cost? Again, I'm not positive it is the pill, but since starting it (I have been on several other pills before this one) I have had SEVERE anxiety issues. I feel depressed a lot of the time and constantly worry about my health and obsess over the possibility of having a serious disease. I definitely don't feel normal. I haven't noticed any other symptoms, just anxiety. I feel like I'm unable to enjoy my life through the anxiety the was I was before Femcon. Has anyone else experienced anxiety like this?

After being on Yasmin for 3 months, I couldn't handle my side affects anymore. My doctor switched me to Femcon FE and when I looked it up online I almost didn't start taking it because of all the negative things I've heard. It's only been 3 weeks so I my opinion might not hold much weight, but I feel like myself so far on this pill. With Yasmin, I was constantly moody, and my sex drive went from extremely high before to practically nothing. Once I switched to Femcon FE I have lost the mood swings completely- I actually feel better than my normal self. Also, I didn't think I'd like/need the option to chew the tablets but now I'd actually rather. The mint flavor tastes really good. Just don't try chewing the inactive pills! They are gross! I do notice my body is a little sore sometimes and I have some uncomfortable cramps-- but it is only my 3rd week on the pill. No breakthrough bleeding.. and the best thing is--- my sex drive is back, and moods are gone--- all of which my boyfriend really appreciates!

Oh thank god - I thought I was the only one! I'm on my 4th month of Femcon and am about to throw it in the garbage mid-pack. I bled the entire first month I was on it and now I barely get a period between packs - never mind the breakthrough bleeding that happens consistently in week 2 and 3 of the active pills. . .so annoying. But the worst part is the mood swings - I feel like I'm becoming a crazy person. I have a horrible temper and am normally quite mellow. I can't wait to feel like myself again (and I'm sure my husband and kids feel the same)

i've been taking femcon less than a month, my periods are irregular and when I do have them they last for several weeks, even the entire month, and i get so heavy I can barely manage it. So after putting it off I went to my doctor and she perscribed femcon. I started taking it on the first day of my period, she said this would lessen the breakthrough bleeding, and everything was fine for the first few days, no side effects at all. About a week in my flow got so heavy I was changing my super tampon every one-two hours. This has been going on for about 5 days now and is not letting up, I've been clotting like I never have before and this morning I got the worst cramps I've ever had. My entire stomach hurt, my back, nausea, I even started to get sharp pains through my vagina. I called my doctor and she said it could be the femcon but I don't have any doubts, the most I ever had was some light cramping and headaches before my period.

Since the last time I posted, the breakthrough bleeding has come back. I guess its because I skipped the week of inactive pills in my first month. The bleeding started on the first day of the second week in my second pack of pills, and 8 days later I still have light bleeding going on. Its kind of weird actually, because I usually seem to bleed during the late morning and early afternoon, and by early evening it stops, only to start again the following day. Its not the worst thing in the world because that means that I can still have some fun with my boyfriend, as long as its at night time. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and how many months can I expect these long periods to last for before it becomes more regular?

I think Femcon FE is definitely great. Yes i do get headaches and nausea sometimes, and sometimes a week before my period a little breakthrough bleeding, but it is the best birth control I've ever taken.
I've had the shot and i bled constantly. I also took other birth control , like ortho tri cyclen, and had bleeding as well.
Femcon has made my period SO much lighter, my cramps are virtually gone during my periods, whereas before they were unbearable. I have found it very hard to lose weight, but with exercise and healthy eating it is ok.
Plus this is the number one pro. NO PREGNANCY. I got pregnant on ortho tri cyclen low when i missed a pill.
Femcon is very reliable and i feel great on it. I haven't had one UTI or yeast since i started it 6 months ago.
I'll take the cons any day. Its worth feeling protected!

Hi ladies, my Dr just gave me 4 mos of sample packs for Femcon Fe. I've read that it's the chew able version of Ovcon, and I haven't read this many bad experiences with Ovcon. I wonder if anyone has had a good experience with this drug and am a little worried about starting it. I am going to finish out my last pack of Yaz and I guess we'll go from there. This will be my 6th pill since 2003, as I have had breakthrough bleeding with all the others, including Yaz. I did read on Femcon's website that this is a good pill to take to stop breakthrough bleeding, has anyone taken this pill and NOT had breakthrough bleeding??? Please someone let me know!

I've been taking this pill for 7 MONTHS now. Previously the side effects seemed pretty negligible--I had a bit of spotting--and though the "blood" was disconcertingly "clumpy" (sorry for the graphics)--I've had spotting with every other pill I've used too. Recently, though, the spotting has turned into full periods! I have about a week and a half of nothing and then a constant mess. As of day before yesterday the cramps and bloating are also in full effect. I'm calling the doctor tomorrow because I got on the pill mainly to control the pain and now not only am I constantly bleeding...but it's these strange dark clumps! Once again, sorry to be so specific, but has anyone else experienced this? It's truly mortifying when I'm with my boyfriend...

I've been on Femcon for less than a month, about three weeks, and the first few days were fine. Within a week I was throwing up every night, the same time, like clock work. Then, a few days later I started breakthrough bleeding and have been for about ten days. ALSO i just started clotting in my legs. Stopping Femcon tomorrow and switching to YAZ. Do not recommend this pill AT ALL.

So this is my third month on Femcon Fe. I switched to this pill to stop with the breakthrough bleeding. I would have my period for 3 weeks at a time!! HORRIBLE...but the first month i continued with the 3 week period. i figured my body was just adjusting to it. The second pack was awesome...all my symptoms went away and i had a normal period. Im now on my third pack and i started the bleeding again...im not suppose to be on my period for about another week and a half..and my breasts are really really tender! I dont know if i should continue to stay on this pill or switch. Ive already switched bc pills 3 different times in the past year so i know my body is still adjusting but idont think it's normal to have a period that often! spotting i understand but a period..dont think so! If any of you have been on this longer and have any advice i would appreciate it. should i finish it out longer and see what happens? i dont want to switch again because that's another bc pill that my body has to get used to!! :(

This is for all of you out there that are not sure if this is for you or not. I have been on several different kinds of bc pills and I have to say this one is the best one ever. I don't even need to be on the pill, I had my tubes tied after my twins were born (4 children) and I wanted to be back on the pill to regulate my hormones, because I didn't like myself, I was very moody and severe pms. I had one doc put me on antidepressants. Didn't work. I can tell everyone you do need to let this pill as with any pill or medication adjust to your body and eveybody adjusts differently. I have been on it for 2 1/2 months and I feel like a new person. Yes, I do have some nausea, so I take it at nightime. I had an extremely bad headache for the first week as with all the meds I take. My sex drive is better for the first time ever being on a pill. Tender breasts for the first 1 1/2 and I have had this problem for the past 20 years, very very bad and for the first time I can actually say that is pretty good. I have had a little spotting in the second month nothing to bad though. Yes I still get a little moody before my period, however I am a woman and there are no miracle drugs to totally eliminate that. I don't normally write on these sites however, I think everyone should give them self time to adjust to meds (3 months) before giving up. Hang in there and there is one out there that will work for you.

i am now on my 3rd week of femcom and i don't know what to think. I have recently moved to england from america for school leaving behind a 3 and a half year relationship with my boyfriend(staying together though) and family and friends. I have felt depressed since about the second day i started it. I cry every day and just don't feel like myself. Im not sure if that's the pill or the homesickness but i think it's both. Ive actually lost 5 pounds since being on this since i have no appetite now. the depression i feel is going away but ive had bleeding for about a week and a half now. I just wanted to know how long the bleeding/spotting lasts for and will that offsett my period which is due in 1 week now? thanks so much guys....oo and how many months will the irrgular bleeding last?

Alright. So I've posted on here before and I had some negative things to say. Well, I just finished my fifth month of Femcon and I'm starting to like it now. I had never taken any birth control before, so I knew my body would need to adjust to it. The breakthrough bleeding I experienced in the first few months SUCKED. And I had my doubts on whether it would get better or not. But this month I had no breakthrough bleeding and my period is pretty light, or lighter than normal anyways. Only side effect I've noticed other than what I already mentioned, was I've been way more emotional than normal. I cry a lot. And I've had very slight tingling feelings in certain parts of my body, like my arms and legs. Very slight though. But yeah, I like it now. Hopefully it stays that way. If not, I'll be back on here ranting about how terrible it is. I promise that.

I had been on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for 6.5 years and NEVER eperienced any problems. I got on Femcon because I was moving to a new state and inbetween insurance companies. My doc gave me a 6month supply before I left so that I could still be on the pill. I'm on the first two weeks, and like everyone else I have experienced break through bleeding. I haven't gotten headaches or mood swings. But as a teacher and a coach, I can't afford to have any of these problems. I'll stick it out for a little bit longer until my new insurance kicks in, but then I think I'm switching back. Anyone know how long this bleeding will last??? did anyone stay on it long enough to see if things setteled down afterwards?

I have been on this pill for almost a month, I starte bleeding on the end of the second week, my doctor told me this was normal. I usually have horrible cramps but with this I ahve been fine so far. BUT....the weight gain is out of control....and the mood swings are bad too, no headaches or any other symptoms. I am very concerned about the weight gain though it reall is out of control, I have not been doing anything out of the ordinary with my diet, and I have no energy to get up and do anything. Is anyone else feeling this too? I am very happy that I only have two more months left on this crap. Good luck to you all, and know that there are other women going through the same thing.

Surprisingly i have been ok on this pill. i was on yasmin, then switched to yaz (which was the worst pill ever! i had my period for over 3 weeks on that pill). I've just started on Femcon, and it immediately stopped my breakthrough bleeding. the only side affect i think im experiencing is the headaches! i've been really stressed lately so i dont know if it has to do with that or the pill. also i have been REALLY tired a lot. i seem to wake up, do something then want to crawl back to bed for a few hours. anyone else get tired on this pill? other than that, the pill is actually working. now if we could just fix these headaches...

Besides needing a birth control, I was put on Femcon to also regulate my cycle and try to schedule it around my wedding day. Well, it completely backfired! My family is calling this the pill from hell. It ruined my wedding night. I tried delaying my cylce by continuing the active pills (as instructed by my doctor) and instead I got breakthrough bleeding which lasted over a week along with the worst cramps I have ever felt in my life. I was on codine on the wedding day just to make it through the day. I've also been getting migraines around the clock. I've tried sticking it out. I'm now finishing my third month and again I'm having the worst cramps ever along with frequent migraines. I've been doubled over in pain for the past two days now. On top of that I've had terrible mood swings. All of my friends and family are afraid to talk to me, I'm not myself. My doctor wasn't much help either telling me that maybe I should find another form of birth control which unfortunately is not really an option for me. She claimed I'd probably have the same reaction to any pill. Is she right? Before I was on the pill I'd get pretty bad cramps and migraines (bad enough to be put on perscription pain killers back then) and was told that these symptoms would be lighter and might even disappear with the pill. Instead there much worse, almost unbearable. Does anyone have any suggestions/comments? I'm working on finding another doctor. Is there a chance these symptoms might sort themselves out if I continue considering I wasn't taking them properly at the beginning?

I've been on FemCon now for 4 mos and it's been great! I had some breakthrough bleeding for the first 1 1/2 but that's normal usually when you start a new birth control pill. I haven't gained any weight and I have very little cramps during menstruation. My face has cleared up since I've been on it also. And fortunately, it hasn't affected my sex drive...

Every night I got extremely terrible pains in my stomach. I didnt know if I was going to vomit or have diarrhea. And I have also been bleeding for the past 2 weeks again.. I am debaiting whether or not to continue taking the pill. Does anyone have the same problems or any advice?

It's the best pill I've been on (I've been on about 3 over the past 4 years). My others made me nausiated all of the time, but I haven't felt that way on Femcon. I haven't had any side effects at all and this is the first pill that has stopped my breakthrough bleeding. I like it.

I have great experience with this pill unlike others. Just like with any pill you can get melasma which is dark spots on your skin. I got few but from my previous pill witch was Yaz (it was terrible; daily headaches, no periods which is normal but kept buying pregnancy tests because of it, terrible breast soreness, vaginal dryness, zero sex drive). With this pill, at the beginning of taking this pill, first few days I felt little nauseous but nothing that bothered me. First month I had some breakthrough bleeding but that was gone after a month. No headaches, slight breast increase which I am not complaining about (it can happen in pills with higher estrogen). No breast soreness, no weight gain, no darkening of the skin so far, sex drive is normal. The only negative, this pill costs $75.
